A few changes in the new rankings that you will see from here on out to bring them in line with AIBA competition rules. From Michael Smith: "Women's weight categories will be on the new basis 46 48 51 54 57 60 64 69 75 81 +81 (kg). Youth rankings will now be only for boxers born in 1991 and 1992. Boxers under 19 years old but born in 1990 will be deleted from the lists. Similarily Juniors will be restricted to boys born in 1993 and 1994 and for April and May."

Re: Michael Smith's April World Rankings Released
Michael Smith has a few boxers that he needs to remove from the rankins as they have turned pro.
For the US rankings:
201+: Andrae Carthon is 0-1-1 as a pro and should not be ranked as an amateur.
201+: Walter Burns is 1-0 as a pro.

In the Pan Am ratings:
Kevin Bizier has turned pro:
http://www.boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?hu ... &cat=boxer
Juan Cuellar has turned pro:
http://www.boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?hu ... &cat=boxer
Some criticism: I don´t understand how Raushee Warren can be No 1 . He lost in the first round of the Olympics to No 13 Ok Sung Lee. Warren was a world champion in 2007 but hasn´t done much since.
Otherwise: Keep up the good work

I'll forward feedback to Michael, but I can tell you that the time and thought he puts into his list is pretty incredible. I personally, can't wait to see his answers.
I do know that it takes so much time to compile the list it may not reflect current pro statuses if it's not reflected in some of the sources he uses, but any feedback is welcomed. . .I enjoy his lists a lot.

Re: Michael Smith's April World Rankings Released
From Michael Smith:
"I noted the new professional boxers and they will be removed next month. I do scan the boxrec pro results at least once a week to see who has turned pro and periodically examine their pro ratings but I guess nothings perfect. I did look at the Warren/Jongjohor number one spot on a number of occasions. Warren was a clear winner in the world champs and appeared to be unlucky in the Olympics losing by one point to a former world champion. In essence Warren won the last head to head with Jongjohor and that is my basis."

Ok, let me first start by saying I am biased. But his Men's US 132lbs rankings irk me. Why is Traon Bynum #1? No doubt he's a good boxer, but aside from the U19's, what has he won? I know he put Emmanuel Medina #2 because he defeated Caferro at the PAL; but does he know that Caferro had previously defeated Medina and was apparently handily winning this past year before he got caught? Not only that, but what does he look for in his rankings? Do either of them have 4 Ringside Titles, 2 National PAL titles, a trip to the Olympic Trials under their belt? I know Bynum went to the world U-19's, but that's a bit different than a full senior tournament.

but duran beat medina in 2006?thats 3 years ago?manuel stopped duran last year at the pals.so i guess in michael smiths opinion hes number 2. as for bynum? he has tremendous potentiel for this year.doing a great job against the cuban at the youth games.but in my opinon i wouldnt care about these rankings.

Re: Michael Smith's April World Rankings Released
Michael Smith: "As regards the query on the 60KGS USA rankings; All of the top four could lay claim to be number one,eg Medina has beaten Caferro who in turn beat Fowler who in turn beat Medina all in the last year. However the nod goes to Bynum who is the national under 19 champion which is significant in the US as most of Americas talented Amateurs turn professional in their teens and early twenties However this will be sorted out in the upcoming nationals."Kolya wrote:Ok, let me first start by saying I am biased.
