Yep its bollocks, boxing politics yet again. He should be allowed to hold belts, whats the point in unification fights otherwise.

It's stupid, you can now potentially have 6 'world' champions per division.
I only just found out that WBA Lightweight champion is Paulus Moses.

All the organisations are crap

WBC - International title/Interim title/regular title/Champion Emeritus(wtf?)

WBA - International title/Interim title/ordinary title/super title/champion in recess

IBF - Intercontinental(fancy word innit?)/Interim title/regular title

WBO - International title/interim title/regular title/super title

god knows how many I've missed off :-?

There is more than that even, there are now region champions... like WBO NABO, and Latino etc, aswell as the youth champions.

They can't stand that up. Pavlik holds the WBC and WBO titles. I thought he had 15 days to decide to face the WBC mandatory next. The WBC have no chance of standing that up in court. Remember Rocchigiani.

At super bantam, Caballero is WBA super champ, Bernard Dunne is ordinary champ and they have another Thai guy penned in to fight for the "interim" title.

In fairness to the Thai fighter, Poonsawat Kratingdaenggym, he's been jerked around for over a year - supposedly as the mandatory. He won an eliminator, never got his title shot. So now they're coming up with this bogus interim rubbish.

Bradley could sue the f**kers, but all these sanctioning bodies know it takes a lot of time, effort and money to do that, so it never happens. What a disgrace though. Bradley has worked his tail off to get those belts, first coming to Britain to beat Witter and then stepping in against another dangerous title holder. Complete jokers.

Didn't they do this to Naseem Hamed years ago? I believe he chose the WBO.

The WBO is starting to look like the best alphabet title to hold.

I feel sorry for Bradley. I would want Bradley to fight three times a year - one for a WBC mandatory, one for a WBO mandatory and let him fight whoever he wants in between. I don't see the point in unification fights if these organisations are giving ultimatums.

Yeah it makes no sense the fact there is so much crap dilutes competition among top boxers and permits them to pick a belt and stick with it rather than try unification which end up causing more problems than they are worth.

I honestly think they should cut all that crap and each organization should have 2 belts: International title (Champ belt) and Champion in Recess in order to avoid problems due to injuries or controversial decisions like a side title.

No 'Champion in Recess', thanks. If the champion is injured and won't be able to defend his belt then he should lose it. If he's good enough, he'll be able to win it back when he's healthy again.

tell that to the ibf.

i'm all for meaningful mandatories.

really deserving cases deserve a title shot.

but getting stripped for not fighting the likes of n'dou, rabah and ngoudjo is a pisstake. :shame:

I agree with the champions that the ring has in most weight classes though I don't buy the publication because its usually out of date.
I don't see what all of the panic is about. The organisations have been about for years and they are gradually killing themselves. The Ring magazine doesn't recognise them and either does HBO. Lets have the best fighters fight the best fighters and we've been getting much more of that recently than we've ever had.
Anyone for Hatton-Pac Man? The baubles are not for shit. Its the fighters and the fights that make champions. :TU:

Good points.

A step in the right direction would be to have the fighters introduced as, for instance, "the current WBC champion" rather than "The WBC champion of the World!". That 'of the world' bit makes me cringe.

Of course, it aint gonna happen, unfortunately.
