No wonder it's called the Wazza Boxing Organisation.

Arthur, Cook and now Mitchell passing it round the dressing room.

I like Mitchell, but he should have stuck to the IBF route instead of this trinket.

I would love to see Kevin Mitchell win this one - warming to him - gutsy fighter and lets face he is exciting to watch.

However - oh dear oh dear the WBO - surely they are not favouring particular promoters are they?

Glad he is having a warm up.

I think the 02 be too big a venue for Kevin at this stage.

I'd like to see this fight. Should be a good one. I've no idea who will win. I suppose I see it as a 50-50 fight from the little I've seen of Martinez.

I wouldn't say that, there was enough people supporting Kevin at the 02 when he fought for the British Title and he left his mark at that venue in winning 'the fight of the year' so Im sure he will have a big enough turn out at this venue, especially if like most FW shows now there wont be only one 'main' fight. Also, lets be fair, if the 02 is a big enough venue for Nicky Cook its def not too big for Kevin!

No, he's won the British also and in 'the fight of the year'

I think Mitchell is stronger than Cook and a bit better fighter all round. Martinez looked stiff and slow to me, and Nicky was in control until he was stopped, so I would fancy Mitchell to take this.

I don't think either have really earned a crack at a world title based on who they've beat, but given the specific circumstances of their title shots I think Mitchell is more deserving. At least he has campaigned and actually had one fight at super feather, not to mention he wasn't brutally knocked out in 54 seconds two fights ago.

That being said I think they are both better than the names on their record suggest, and will come out victorious in tough fights.

In control? Martinez started slow, lost the first two rounds but you could see halfway through the 3rd he started to loosing up and when he did proceeded to spark Cook out.

Mitchell will go the same way! did you not see the Johanneson fight and how many he was shipping :o

Martinez lost the first, was badly hurt and nearly knocked down in the second, probably lost the third for doing nothing in the first half of the round, and was looking troubled by body shots prior to the knockout in the fourth. I would say that Cook was control or at least ahead, very possibly 30-27. Mitchell could very well go down the same, but I think he will pull it out.

Pinklon Thomas was in control against Mike Tyson and Cotto against Margarito and look what happened

Bottom line is Martinez started slow but within 3 mins of settling and opening up he had Cook down 3 times and the fight was over, it was a mismatch from 1:30 of the 3rd.

I have seen a lot of Martinez and thats the way he fights, always a slow starter, easy to hit, especially with the jab and can be hurt himself.

He is a hugely proud and brave warrior and you hurt him and he seems to come alive but one thing is for definite, he don't punch like Johannsson and he could not put Mitchell over so I think this is Mitchell's fight to win as long as his hands are actually repaired which is open to some debate.

He is too quick for Martinez and the guy can be hurt not just against Cook he has been in trouble before and come through, not sure he does against Mitchell.

Mitchell wins this surprisingly comfortably for me.

Pinklon Thomas in control  ? Thomas was floored in the first and down big at the time stoppage, if thats your idea of control......

Did I ever say Cook was going to win? NO. I said he was in control for the duration of the fight, by which I mean he was ahead, which was the case. The fight was never a mismatch, Cook was still doing well in the fourth until he was caught and went down. Besides, Kevin Mitchell isn't Nicky Cook, hes quicker, hits harder, and can take a shot better. Just because Martinez beat Cook does not mean he will beat Mitchell.

And if your going to mention past Mitchell fights why don't you mention Martinez' fight vs Jose Cruz when he was hurt and beaten in the eyes of most people only to get a draw because of a dubious point deduction. Or when he was floored by some no name called Santos Benavides. Im sorry my opinion bothers you so much, but I think Kevin Mitchell will beat Martinez. :D

i think this fight goes to the later rounds where one of them gets stopped but i am not 100% sure as i would like to be that it's Mitchell who'll end up on top.

Thats the truth. :TU:

Yet another example of Fwank bypassing one of his fighter's past their domestic rivals to a premature opportunity at a "world" title shot. Fwank the wank is bad for British Boxing.

Good luck to Mitchell though. Its certainly not his fault and he is a talented fighter.
