DAY 3: SATURDAY JUNE 13:
As if your trip had not already exceeded expectations,
we have planned the perfect day to round off the whole
experience. Leaving by coach mid-morning, the tour party
will take a 15 minute ride to the home of The Kentucky Derby,
the world famous race track ‘Churchill Downs’. We have
booked an exclusive corporate suite on the 6th Floor
Grandstand overlooking the finish line to enjoy a live race
meeting with an anticipated attendance of twenty thousand
spectators.
Our suite is aptly named ‘Millionaires Row’ and as tour party
members you will enjoy a champagne reception and a running
buffet, with on site betting facilities, bar and access to the
open-air Grandstand enabling you to soak up the unique
atmosphere of live racing at one of the most renowned race
tracks in the world. Should you win lose or draw at ‘Churchill
Downs’ the memory of the day will be long lasting and
whatever the outcome, what better way to reflect on the day
than to be transported by our resident luxury coaches directly
to the docks of the Ohio River. We will then board the famous
Louisville Belle Steamboat for a two hour trip, including buffet
and entertainment from the Bluegrass Jazz Band, as we cruise
along this great southern waterway.
This traditional experience is steeped in true Louisville culture
and the perfect way to end a day that will live long, not only in
your mind but in your heart.
We will finally come to rest at the dock, just a stones throw
from 4th Street for a chance to say our farewells before retiring
to The Marriott Louisville Downtown for your final night in
Kentucky.
DAY 4: SUNDAY JUNE 14:
After a hearty breakfast US style, and upon check out we will
be taken for the final time by coach, to Louisville airport for
your direct flight back to Manchester. With time to reflect and
enjoy in-flight entertainment, we will be back on British soil,
with everlasting memories, and YOU will proudly be able to say
that YOU were one of a select group of individuals who attended
‘THE GREATEST’ SPORTING DINNER, EVER!
The Main Event
The Grand Function Suite in the Muhammad Ali Center will
be our destination for this truly unique experience. This floor
to ceiling windowed suite stands proudly overlooking the JFK
Bridge that spans the Ohio River. The very bridge from which
Muhammad Ali reputedly threw his Olympic Gold Medal upon
his victorious return to Louisville only to find out that at that
time not even ‘he’ could enjoy a coffee in a downtown café.
Muhammad Ali along with various figures from both
The Muhammad Ali Center and Muhammad Ali Enterprises
will be in attendance for the entire duration of the main event.
Our very own Ambassador for the Tour, Sir Henry Cooper OBE
will also be on the top table. Muhammad Ali will address our
party and has agreed to have a photograph taken with each
individual table on the night. These will be made available
to all tour group members as a memento of the event together
with an exclusive take home gift bag commemorating this
unique and historic experience.
In addition, further entertainment will be provided during
the evening, by none other than The Original Temptations
who are flying in especially from Las Vegas.
A carefully selected range of exclusive, authentic
signed Muhammad Ali memorabilia from Muhammad Ali in gyms.

Sounds good, but what qualifies as very rare? I thought all his fights have been out there on offer in various collections for years, including his amateur stuff too. Or has someone unearthed some old stuff from some dusty old basement? Maybe there was a couple missing, I can't remember..poodlepoo wrote:shameless plug
ive just finished a 28 disc career set of ali including over 40 hrs of docs and bonus footage
lots of very very rare fights too

What do you mean by 'very very rare'?
Are you suggesting you have some Clay/Ali fights which aren't available from the dozens of people competing with you selling fights from TV?
Can you be specific on which Clay/Ali fights you have that are 'very very rare' and what you base that claim on?
Re: MEET AND HAVE DINNER WITH THE 'GREATEST' MUHAMMAD ALI L@@K
poodlepoo, can you pm me a list of your sets mate.

OK, no 'very very rare' ones then if you simply got them from a dude who has been on the trading scene for many years.poodlepoo wrote:well the vast majority of people selling an ali set are re selling a set that customizedvds.com did
i junked that and re did the set from my own vhs tapes. Using xp mode to transfrer the video. The resulting dvds are better quality. I added tons of documentaries I had on tape too. As for the clay fights, the customizedvds set started from the liston fight and so missed all of the clay fights out . I got the vast majority of them from a couple of vhs tapes which originated from a trader called lawrence williams I believe the tapes are about 12 yrs old but in very very good nick

Re: MEET AND HAVE DINNER WITH THE 'GREATEST' MUHAMMAD ALI L@@K
My point is that I don't think you have any 'very, very rare' Clay/Ali fights.poodlepoo wrote:no ive had the tapes for 12 yrs , so not just from a trade and the fights are rare in that i havent seen any other set with the full cooper original broadcast. Whats your point m8 ?
I make a good living from this because I sell good quality dvd sets, plus I dont rely on re selling other peoples work. I make up original sets and try to provide unique features etc
You are trying to tell me that Ali - Cooper (1) only exists in your collection?
That fight in its entirety is available from any number of traders / sellers. As are the other Clay fights that have been re-broadcast.
Here's a DVD of a few. Looks nice wouldn't you say?

There is some mad fooker in the states called the 'fight doctor' who has some excellent gems of live Ali fights converted from reel to dvd the problem is he wants stupid money for them, if you had the cash to part with you could probably justify it and right it off.
poodlepoo the shit you are trying to palm off on people has probably been in circulation for years.

He does come up with some good stuff in marvellous condition every now and then. He told me he has a mate who gets the film from TV archives but who knows with Antoine.
There is also Lonis Tuna in Canada who only sells heavyweight fights. Last time I saw his list, his Ali stuff went over 3 A4 pages with multiple different versions of many of the fights. He's an oddball too.

Good luck with the Ali event Phil.
Unfortunately most regular boxing fans dont have a pot to piss in, let alone 7 large for a trip to see Marcellus in the flesh.
Although if i did have that kind of loot, it sounds like an adventure.

Re: MEET AND HAVE DINNER WITH THE 'GREATEST' MUHAMMAD ALI L@@K
5K for this is an absolute bargain. I'm in Chicago on business until the Friday afternoon, otherwise I'd be there in a heartbeat.
Louisville, Kentucky is a fantastic town. I was there for a weekend last year the weekend before the Derby running the half-marathon with the missus (which also includes a lap of the famous track), and there was an afternoon race meet on which was tremendous - if you like the nags, its a must go to destination. Really, really friendly people (a single man with an English accent would clean up), some great bars, a vibrant arts scene, some great baseball stuff (probably the prettiest little league ground in the US and the main manufacturer of bats have their factory there and its a great visit - in fact, note to the organisers: the only thing missing, if a lot of the blokes are sporty, as I assume they are, is a trip to the bat factory and a chance to hit a few balls in the stadium) and of course the Ali centre which is absolutely fascinating.
Wonder if I can get tix just for the Friday dinner and race meet?
