Starting date is irrelevant as i asked for the last time.

Im sure it maybe one of Johnny Nelson's last defences. Either May or Canatore.
Wasnt Calzaghe/Veit delayed as well.

Fcuk knows, Andries V's Hearns.....Honeyghan V's Curry.....Bruno V's Tyson.....if we keep guessing we might come somewhere close to the last one.... who did Akinwande win the WBO title off? was that on TV?Finch wrote:Starting date is irrelevant as i asked for the last time.

Calzaghe vs Veit was on delay, as was Nelson vs May..... Cantatore was shown live.
Off course, a different debate on whether he is British - but Ben Dunne a few weeks ago, McCullough vs Larios 1 was another shown on delay.
Howard Clarke vs Fernando Vargas was not shown in full, despite Sky having cameras there and showing the main event as a PPV.

I don't think Akinwande's world title fight was shown in the UK at all - it was against Jeremy Williams.

Honey v Curry was given a miss, with ITV showing it the next day I think.

They still haven't shown Johnny Nelson's WBF title fights...

Froch will be on TV.
The last big one not to be was Calzaghe v Veit, which was only shown a couple of weeks later. All fights are eventually on TV, but until the Eighties virtually none were on live.

The point here, is that it's very suprising that the Froch - Taylor fight is'nt being screened live
Either it says a lot about the financial situation in America or Carl Froch can't sell fights.....
I don't know what Henessey was wanting from the tv companies, but i'd heard a figure of £300,000
Maybe decent to good paydays are at an end for title holders who lack a "name" , as is the case with Froch

I was under the impression Froch was a household name in the UK now? (I live overseas). Hell, even my mum knows him!Quixall wrote:Either it says a lot about the financial situation in America or Carl Froch can't sell fights.....

i think ITV showed highlights a few weeks after the fight, and then at a later date Eurosport showed it in full.gobbles wrote:Froch will be on TV.

Re: When was the last time a Brit World Champ fight wasn't.....
I think its terrible a good proper title fight like this isn't being shown when we've seen tonnes of absolute shyte on SKY for twenty years.
I would struggle to think of 10 title fights involving a British fighter that have been shown on British telly that were, on paper more competitive, featured a more acknowledged name than Taylor? or more important in the last 10 years.
1999-2009.
Calzaghe v Kessler and Hopkins?
Hatton v Tyszu, Mayweather and Maglinaggi?
Witter v Harris?
Haye v Mormeck and Enzo?
Woods v Johnson & Jones?
Eastman v Hopkins?.........

Well maybe your mum tries to keep up to impress you with her boxing knowledgeoliverfennell wrote:I was under the impression Froch was a household name in the UK now? (I live overseas). The problem for Carl is that he has'nt penetrated the public's conciousness, despite being shown on itv, which is very suprising. The likes of Benn, Eubank, Watson and Hamed, all became household names, thanks to regular slots on terestial television, But Carl seems to be going down the Ritchie Woodhall route, ie, people always said "Richie Woodhall, who is he.....?"
The same is happenning to Carl Froch and the Americans certainly don't know anything about him.
Re: When was the last time a Brit World Champ fight wasn't.....

On SBO, yes. Hide-Fischer was the UK leg.
