Amir Khan Interesting Bet

Post by black panther »

Ladbrokes are offering an interesting bet that I just noticed. Amir Khan to win any of the WBC/WBA/IBF/WBO world titles in 2009 is 5/4 and Amir Khan not to win any of the WBC/WBA/IBF/WBO world titles in 2009 is 4/7.

I was thinking of lumping on NOT  . Nate Campbell looks like he doesn't want to give up any of his belts anytime soon. My only concern is the WBC which will be/is vacant with Pacman moving up and Khan gets to fight a David Diaz type character for the vacant belt OR Funeka beats Campbell and vacates some of the belts he wins and the same thing happens. What do you guys think?

Betfair ran the same bet for 2008. Even as late as Mid December you could get something like 1/100 for Khan NOT to win the titles. OK, pointlessly poor odds, but that more than any other bet I've seen was a dead cert. I assume people offered those odds on the exchange and then forgot about them.

That said, if you had a lot of cash you could have taken the bet to get your commission level down.

Betfair is a crazy place! With this bet the offer closes as of 14th March i.e when he fights Barrera. I wonder what the odds will be like if he gets KTFO by Barrera? 1000-1?

Yeah, thats because with Ladbrokes it is THEIR money they stand to lose!

5-4 to win a title is poor odds. To do that , realistically, he needs to beat barerra AND someone else. A better bet would be Khan just to beat Barerra, which can be had for nearly 5-4 at some places.

If he does beat Barerra, I'd still say he has a long way to go until he gets his world title shot , so 4-7 looks good. However, you would not get your winnings for ages even if Khan was knocked out in round one against MAB.

I took 5/1 with Corals just after xmas for Khan to win a wba/wbc/ibf/wbo title this year, purely on the fact that Paulus Moses now holds the WBA belt and he is with Don King, the winner of Barrera/Khan will get Moses almost certainly, just thought it was worth a punt.

The thing is if he fights Moses it will be over here and he will be favourite, I could then lay off part of the bet (as its a decent one) and back Moses at a decent price also.

Lots of if and an's but that is what you have to do sometimes with a gamble

Cheers for that, good value now, can lay off Kotelnik if I want to nearer the time, should get 6/4 or perhaps 7/4 at a push so it will be a bet to nothing really.
