Re: Billy Miske
I sort of wish Dempsey had fought Greb instead. Greb had it over Miske and Gibbons, not to mention a win over Tunney. I have heard it said that Dempsey avoided Greb, which is interesting, I don't know if it is a fact. Dempsey did fight Tunney, after all, why fight the man who won the series if you avoided the other man?
Re: Billy Miske
Dempsey v Grebb would have been good.
It also would have been surely filmed, and
we would have atleast this one fight of Grebb's
on film.

Re: Billy Miske
I find it perplexing why no one ever filmed Greb or Welterweight Robinson. I wonder what the reason is. You would think someone who have thought to have filmed some of their fights. We only have pirated footage of Robinson at Welterweight, with the exception of his last defense at Welterweight where he supposedly carried the opponent. Greb and Welterweight Robinson were the greatest fighters of all time it probably is one of the bigger tragedies in boxing history that their fights were not filmed. Oh well.
Re: Billy Miske
I've read that several of Greb's fights were filmed but the films detoriated over time. Can anyone confirm this?
I believe this was written in the new book about Harry Greb.
It's unfortunate that there is not much film of Robinson at welterweight but atleast there is some. There is none of Greb, except a couple of clips from his training camp for the Walker fight.

There is a newspaper report of the 1925 fight with Mickey Walker that mentions the film camera as being on-site. I believe I've also read a historian's report claiming that footage of this fight was last seen some time in the 1950s.TheGreatA wrote:I've read that several of Greb's fights were filmed but the films detoriated over time. Re: Billy Miske
Greb-Walker and a host of other fights were filmed only to have suffered the ravages of time, just like a multitude of old Hollywood films. Without proper preservation films will disintergrate.
Re: Billy Miske
That is a true tragedy.
Re: Billy Miske
greb's fight with walker broke attendance records in new york. on that basis its safe to say it was filmed
