24/7 Sheds New Light on DLH Performance

Post by Carbo »

Early on in Hatton Pacquiao 24/7, Roach is being interviewed about the DLH fight, and he said that when he was in the middle of the ring with Pacquiao right before the first bell, he noticed on DLH's arms IV marks and fresh blood. He realized that they had been rehydrating him with IV drips AFTER the HBO unofficial dressing room weigh-in.

He said "Big mistake. As I walked back to the corner, I said to Manny, 'Jump on him straight away.'"

I think this is pretty big news, and probably gives some credence to those who felt Manny didn't beat the same DLH who fought Mayweather.

Obviously, it was a sensational performance, but clearly Dela Hoya wasn't all there.

He'd done the weight completely wrong. Was so gone he had to be on a drip after the weigh in. Ergo, he was absolutely knackered from the off.

Not just after the weigh in, but right up to the bell.

You're the man when it comes to this sort of thing, P-N. What do you think? Is this news, or is it just news I haven't noticed?

How often does this happen, I wonder?

That wasn't an IV mark on De La Hoya's arm.....

It was the Devil's teeth marks, who now has his soul for betting on his opponent so heavily.

Anyone recall in the post fight interview, Merchant said to SLH "You just said to me before the cmaeras came on that you did this to yourself, what did you mean?" but DLH didn't want to discuss it any further..... Nobody really picked up on this....

Firstly all this 'Oscar weighed 147lbs on the night' is bullshit, he will have been around 160lbs minimum, he weighed more than 160lbs against Chavez back in '98. OScar always was a weight drainer up until 154-160, meaning he starves and dehydrates to make weight, alongside the usual training down to be in shape.

When your doing that fight after fight for years you know exactly how your body will respond, know you can train down to 152lbs after a workout, know starving yourself and taking diuretics, saunas, wearing sweat suits for 3days can shift those last 5lbs. Fighters get away with it fight after fight because they know what their body could get away with 3-6months ago

But if you haven't made that weight for years, you get older and your body will not be as fresh at the weight, those last few pounds are harder to shift you need to use more diuretics, your more dehydrated, you lose more muscle and you don't recover as fast. Not to mention you are older and have less conditioning, speed and reactions anyway. Oscar was weight drained and old but he did have a massive size advantage that didn't pay off this time

I think it's utterly obscene how professional athletes, and in the toughest sport of all at that, torture their bodies to make weight and then expect to be at their physical peak.

Can you imagine if Wayne Rooney ran out for the World Cup Final and the commentator said, "Here comes Wayne Rooney, he's barely eaten for a week and has spent hours in the sauna to be here today." Would you expect him to be at this best? There'd be absolute uproar, but it's considered normal in boxing.

With the sports science knowledge that's around today there is no excuse for it.
