It's about 40 miles away, good train links from the city and the airport
Cheers! At the minute i can get return flights for 170ish but won't have the cash to book it for 3 weeks. If i can get flights and hotel for 3 nights for around 300 i'm there. Just worried i might be leaving it too long.

I've been out in Ddorf a few times as I was there a lot on business last summer. The centre of town by the river is lovely, loads of good bars and cobbled streets. Obviously didn't large it though as was there for work so no idea what clubs are like.

i know people who know the city and say its good for a night out for what I've seen of Gelsenkirchen where i'm staying its going to be a bit quieter apart from fight night.
Dusseldorf is a fantastic night out from what I`ve been told. I have been to Hamburg and Munich (Beer festival) both were great places. The Germans are actually sound and the women are lovely. Greart beer and food. Should be a cracker.

Looking at flying to Weeze Airport friday evening, hopefully catching a taxi to dusseldorf where ive found a cheap hotel for 2 nights. The downer is that we probably won't get to the hotel until near 1am but i'm sure we can throw the bags in and find a late night club for a few hours. Dusseldorf is about an hour away from Weeze so i'm hoping a taxi split 4 ways won't be too much.

Train to Gelsenkirchen on fight night then back to Dusseldorf city for a piss up, could stay out all night regardless of the fight result then get back to Weeze Airport for a 11:30am flight on Sunday. Thats the plan anyway, i'm hoping my mates are game for it and get the money to me soon.

Flight/Hotel for about £115 each at the moment. :TU:

Looking at the 49 Euro tickets.

Also, for those not staying in Geslenkitchen, there's a rumour the fight will start in the am to accomodate HBO.

If not, I'm bringing Miss POncey's notebook so we'll download a torrent and watch it in our pants.

I'm hearing 4am start time from the States.

4 am Start? Most people will be monkeyed by that time. What a farce.

Why don`t the yanks have to get up in the middle of the night to watch a fight?? The dollar speaks again.

I've said it before - a 4am start is hard to believe - utter, utter madness if so.

I thought when they announced it all, they said it would definately be on at a normal time, as this was a European fight, for European fans...

I've made a call to the ticket companies, they've advised the fight kicks off 11pm German time, 10pm UK time.

Just wanted to get this thread up and running again.

I am going to be in Dusseldorf Thursday and Friday night, moving over to Gelenshirken for the Saturday.

Will be travelling alone and would like to meet up with a few guys for the Thursday/Friday session. I have sent a couple of PM`s to people who I believe will be in Dorf for the Thurs/Fri.

Anyone else interested in meeting up for beers to see what Dusseldorf can offer mid summer?? Can`t say I fancy doing a solo session round the bars, need a team in place. I arrive at about 8 pm on the Thursday. Staying in the city centre.

Cheers.
