As reported earlier, Steward opportunity was missed when I was on the phone because at the time I didn't know about his appointment.

good stuff but in resposne the MEN is booked right, why not hold it at Man city's new ground instead then, bigger arenba more gate receipts, more money, problem solved.

I knwo tis not that easy but it should be explored surely.
I wouldnt see Man city causing a problem as Ricky is their number one fan and this way everyone gets their slice of the pie and we get the fight we want. Simple.

why does that matter? A tthe end of the day football is done dusted by 5 pm, if the fight is being screened by showtimes they will want a later slot for US audiences so the show starts at 8.30 instead of 6.30.

still seems feasible to me.
if not re-arrange it for the sunday its only football

To be honest Im geting fornicating bored shitless of all this. And pretty soon I wont care what happens to hatton, which is a shame cos he has been one of my favourite fighters of recent times.

Its just becoming too mind numbing to contemplate any longer. having said that if it comes off I'll be there for sure, fickle bunch I guess us boxing fans

At the end of the day Hatton should take the pay cut not Harris, if it goes to purse bids he'll get 25% of the total purse as the challenger. Let's hope he sees it that way, he's earned good money pretty easily so far so if he wants the title shot as much as he says he should be willing to compromise on the money.

I've said before that Harris doesn't think Hatton is a threat. That's one of the rasons he is so keen to take the fight.

He's in for a shock imo.

One interesting fact is the WBA DO NOT currently rate Hatton as MANDATORY, this is an assumption made by Warren.

I touched on this in a previous article that I had only ever heard Warren announce this fact, a contributor on another forum has had an answer from the WBA stating quite clearly that at this point nobody is stipulated as MANDATORY.

When I was over in NZ, they turned a rugby pitch into a cricket pitch in about an hour and a half, both for first grade games. Very impressive. Many helicopters. Some seating issue for boxing, though.

If Maine's Road's free then what British fight would take precedence over this one? And what boxing is being shown on Showtime at 4pm Noew York time on a Saturday afternoon? These things are just silly little hurdles that should not be an issue at all.

If it goes to bids Hatton will get 25% of the total purse bids. Even if King won the bidding 25% of the winning bid would never equate to the sort of money Hatton gets for fights at the MEN.

While I can certainly sympathise with any boxer not wanting to take a smaller purse (it is a bloody short career at the best of times, and with Hatton's style, even shorter )

But

There comes a time in any career where you have to take a gamble, take a smaller salary in the hope that a gamble will pay off.

If ( and it is a big if ) Hatton beats Harris, he will be able to command much bigger fees even for fighting stiffs at the MEN ( at least for a while ) If, however, he remains obdurate about getting a big whack this time he is going to experience the law of diminishing returns as people see him as a coward ( not true BTW ) and stop coming

In the end, the downside of fighting Harris is less than the potential upside

Yes, but how much would the venue cost to hire? I have no idea, but it could be significantly more than the cost of the MEN.

I don't know whether there are enough Ricky Hatton fans to fill a football stadium.....45,000 is a lot of bums on seats, and I cannot think of a fight which has had attendance like that since Leonard v Duran in Montreal.
