Danny's weight for Tyson
Danny's weight for Tyson
The Williams camp are talking about him coming in at 18 stone-ish.
Is that too heavy, and will it make him sluggish and lose his speed?
His speed is one of his best assets.
What was he for Samil Sam?

If you look at his record 18st about what he's been for most of his big fights, although IMO like most heavyweights today he fights way above what would be his ideal fighting weight, afterall he's only about 6'1''. Keep an eye on his weight for this one against Sprott he came in at nearly 19st and looked crap. But if the TV footage is anything to go by he looks in better shape for this one

Danny, although not tall, is a beast of a man, if you look at his record, even in his early career he weighed 240+, and at 30 now, he is unlikely to get back down there. I reckon 250 is as light as he comes in.
Danny has the most enormous legs I have ever seen on a heavyweight, his calves are the size of most fighters thighs, I think that is where a lot of his weight is.

Also although hes not very wide he is very thick set.
the depth of his pecs to his shoulder blades is huge.

I don't think he is fat usually. He never looks blubbery as such. The lowest weight recorded for him on boxrec is 235, very early in his career. If he comes in 250, which is under 18 Stone he should be mobile enough.
Danny has complained of feeling listless when he comes in too light, and if he has got shingles, it's not advisable to lose too much weight.

Williams should be working on speed and keeping Tyson at bay'smoothering for 3 rounds. Bruno kept going on about his 2 stone weight advantage over Tyson. But in the fights his extra weight didn't seem to be advantagous to him.
It quality not so much quantity that matters.
I would like to see Williams under 18st 4lbs IMO anyway.

Though he was better in that fight then he was against Sam (being he won against Long and lost to Sam) I think he still looked rubbish against Long. Long must be one of the most inactive heavyweights, at least one that is in the supposed prime of his career. (This doesn't include Tyson currently.) And in that fight with Williams he had no long range jab, he had to be practically standing on Danny Williams head to be able to land a punch on him. Williams shouldn't have had to take that one to points IMO anyway, he should of used power against him and knocked him out at some point in the fight.

It was a thrilling fight certainly. I thought Williams won by some margin but Long did have successes. If I remember that was Williams' first fight under the Lion Promotions banner? I know Ogun was there and there was a whisper Lewis may turn up. Wishful thinking obviously.
Was that the Starie v OJ night? I dont remember to well.
