so ITV4 can show a pre fight hype show for Froch but..
Not the actual fight.. I think Froch has a right to be upset that no one has picked this up.. cant remember a time where this has happened for a large scale Britis fighter baefore. very sad..

Froch has the right to be upset ? It's not the TV channels aren't interested, of course they are, Frochy boy and Hennessy are just being greedy.jammidodger wrote:Not the actual fight.. I know thats been a major part of this argument but surely Hennessy and Froch know there gonna get naff all on that online effort.. They must know theres better money in this being on tv??
Re: so ITV4 can show a pre fight hype show for Froch but..
Agreed, anything from TV will be better than online PPV NO ONE will buy. Hennessy might put on a domestic show, but he's a small fry promotor on the world scene. He's not getting John Murray regular fights who is ready to step up, not getting Junior Witter regular decent fights. Seems too busy wanking off over Tyson Fury.
Froch will jump ship after this fiasco and who can blame him.

Someone else mentioned it on an other thread but it has to be remembered that the Cotto-Jennings fight was signed up by Setanta 2 days before the fight. I can see this happening as MH will have to drop his pants in regards to price as he gets closer
Re: so ITV4 can show a pre fight hype show for Froch but..
Yep its genuinely sad, the preview show was just a few guys talking about Froch and a repeat airing of the Pascal fight, which I lapped up as I havent seen the full fight since that night. However it's sad they cant agree something for this, Froch should be their flagship guy, world champ, exciting to watch, in a barnstormer in his last fight. But No, sad times for british boxing really.
Re: so ITV4 can show a pre fight hype show for Froch but..
it's risk reward, really... if Hennessey and Carl ask for £1 million, it's not worth iTV's time. If they want £500,000 then it's more realistic, but Froch has not crossed over - he's not worth that sort of money.
Re: so ITV4 can show a pre fight hype show for Froch but..
I too watched pascal v Froch again tonight .. great fight .. just convinced me more that taylor wins widely on pts
Froch is tough, fit and strong .. but seriously limited :(
I know he came out with excuses after .. which apart from his biggest fans - nobody really believed
But I really think that made taylor alot more comfortable in taking the fight.

I was giving Duke the benefit of the doubt about some of his commentary, thinking its heat of the moment stuff..... but now in a pre recorded show he was talking rubbish!!!! Since when do Froch and Taylor have a similar styles?, since when is Taylor considered slower than Froch? Since when does Taylor, stylistically, have more flaws than Froch?
Re: so ITV4 can show a pre fight hype show for Froch but..
not seen much of taylor but know that froch will be found out a bit at the top level hes a good fighter but fringe world class in my opinion however best of luck to carl hope he pulls through cant see it though

All the time i was watching the build up last night i was thinking, any minute now they are going to spring a surprise and say they will show the fight live, then i woke up :( .If it's froch who wants too much, then he needs to understand that he is a virtual unknown in this country or infact any other country, and keeping himself off mainstream t.v won't help one bit.Yes boxing fans know him,but your average man on the street has never heard of him,and never will, unless he gets himself on ITV,fingers crossed anyway, after watching the replay last night,i'm more convinced that he is 'taylor made',for taylor, and will eat punishment all night.

The rumour and I stress the rumour is the price tag being asked for is £300k - more realistic price tagw would be somewhere between £50k & £125k and thats if he is very lucky.
Re: so ITV4 can show a pre fight hype show for Froch but..
300k isnt just a rumour from the sources i've seen, its the Price Tag that Hennessy shopped around ITV, Sky, Setanta etc only to find the offers coming back didnt even come to 100kThe rumour and I stress the rumour is the price tag being asked for is £300k - more realistic price tagw would be somewhere between £50k & £125k and thats if he is very lucky.
You have to remember one thing, ITV has an exclusive contract with Hennessy to show all his shows within BRITAIN which obviously excludes fights oversea's especially America.
Back in the 80's ITV showed lots of LIVE BOXING at 3am due to virtually getting the Feeds for Free plus generating a good revenue income from Advertising but this was back when there were no Sky or other cable channels or the Net, now in 2009 Revenue income wouldn't come to anywhere near 100k, if they were lucky they may get 50k of advertsing revenue between 3am and 5am!
Also another thing that must be taken into account is that the 300k didnt include showing the Fight again on Sunday Peak time which is really where they can generate the most Advertsing income and from what i'm hearing ITV felt it was better to go for these Rights instead hence the Pre Fight Hype Show on ITV.
The Perfect scenario would have been for ITV to do a £10 PPV on ITV4 to watch the Fight Live and just show the Feed this way and have Barry McGuigan etc in the studio between fights similar to how Setanta do it, this would have kept their production costs down to a minimum rather than flying a whole production crew to America.

Now that MH has paid for a big add in boxing news advertising the streaming site I would be surprised if he does sell it to TV but I am eternally hopeful........
