Freddy Roach wants Ricky Hatton vs Amir Khan later this year

Post by exittored »

Roach said that a KHAN vs HATTON fight would become very realistic if Khan beat Kotelnik to pick up a Light welter world belt and Hatton loses to Pacquio and would be pushing for the Fight if that scenario happens. Later in the interview he also said that Hatton would have been a better fit with him rather than Mayweather which could have been a interesting combination.

Here is the Link, his interview starts from about 10 mins in

I'd actually say Hatton vs Khan would become very realistic if Khan looks great beating Kotelnik and Hatton is stopped by Pacquio or its a wide UD. i think Hatton would see Khan as a very winnable fight to get a World Title again and allegedly, who is great at putting his Fighters in against over the hill Legends, would see a Hatton Fight as a worthwhile gamble especially as Khan would be able to get the knowledge of beating Hatton from Roach/Pacquio

and of course the Fight would be HUGE in Manchester, would easily fill a Football stadium with 50/60,000 and maybe 1 million PPV's so each guy could make over £5 million each so it'd be the biggest fight out there for both guys and money always make the fights.

Hatton would see that fight as beneath him.

Especially when he stops Pacman!

Sky PPV would be all over it too wouldn't they. It definitely looks more possible than it ever has with Khan challenging for Ricky's old WBA belt.

Let's see if Khan get's passed Kotelnik first. Kotelnik is experienced and at a bigger weight class than Khan, so don't expect Khan to win yet.

exactly

should khan win this then expect a bum next then Hatton

i wouldnt be surprised if they dug Gavin Rees up for first defence, that would be an easy win and easy enough to sanction as he has recently held the belt

Wasn't there a thread recently stating that the winner must face Victor Ortiz? Can't see Warren wanting to entertain that fight if Khan manages to beat Kotelnik.

Cant see it happening Pacman will beat Hatton, KO before round 9. Kotelnik will beat Khan on points. Result no fight between Hatton and Khan. Hatton may even retire if he is badly beaten.

Roach says that Pacman has knocked out 4 sparring partners so far, and this guy has just been brought in: Zapir Rasulov (who apparently fights like Hatton)

On the new 24-7 it shows him dropping one with a body shot. Freddy came across as a man totally obsessed with boxing in that interview and on 24-7 and a genuinely nice guy. Cant wait to see if he can make a good boxer out of dean byrne

Why would the winner have to fight Ortiz? Salita is the No 1. I think there were some quotes from Warren saying he had nipped in while Golden Boy were trying to do a deal, but Ortiz is No 3 in the WBA ratings, so way off.

Kotelnik is a tough fight. Salita is not as good as Kotelnik, but could be a big fight in New York.

I think Dmitriy Salita is distinctly average and I really hope he doesn't get his hands on a World title. He would be a perfect defence for Khan, though, from a matchmaker's point of view.

If Hatton defeats Pacquia, he should go after the very beatable Kahn and then go after Marquez, and if he wins that fight, have him go after Chavez Jr. for another easy win with HUGE $$$ behind it.

If Hatton beats Pacman, he will not look at fighting Khan for all the tea in China.
He wouldn't see Khan as a worthy challenger(he would be right)and no way would he want to line Fwankys pockets(anymore than he already has...)

He will target Mayweather/Marquez, then call it a day.

Any reason for Khan to look past Kotelnik is good enough for me.

Lol, there will be a lot of shocked fringe fans come June 27.

I dunno about that - a fight with Khan would generate some serious £££'s and with all those zero's it will be hard for Hatton to say no. But first things first lets see what happens with their fights with Pacquiao and Kotelnik. Not a given Khan will beat Kotelnik - Kotelnik is the toughest fighter Khan has fought by far.
