Does anyone even rate Maccarinelli anymore? Surely you have to be rated by someone to be overrated? Anyway, Enzo still beats the living daylights out of Francis. Norton would be a good fight for Dean though.

Well I'm not sure how many contraditions you can squeeze in!
Nobody rates Enzo but you think he'd beat a two weight British champion with ease.
I dont see what Enzo brings that Francis cannot deal with?
I'd say its an even match because of youth perhaps, precious little else helps Enzo out.
I sincerely think Enzo needs to go to British title level at start again.

Jesus, he lost to Haye and Afolabi. Let's not start rewriting history. He's not rated by anyone on a world level, but he'd still clean up domestically.DavidPayne wrote:Well I'm not sure how many contraditions you can squeeze in!

What does he bring that Franics can't deal with? Two working arms for a start. Beating Tony Oakey doesn't make you some kind of revived world-class force. Francis still has massive limitations unfortunately. No way does Enzo lose to today's version of Deano. Neither are world-class, but Enzo is better.

Re: Dean Francis: I want Norton and Maccarinelli's overrated
He got done when green by Swaby, frightened the shit out of by Scott and had a huge struggle with Hobbo, all before being sparked out by Haye and done in by Olafabi.
Maccarinelli has two wins against ageing world-contenders and precious little else.
I remember the Belgian fella threw two punches in the 12th and Enzo went backwards in a straight line and didn't know what to do.
It was there to see.
Lovely fella, genial, generous and brave. But he's a British champion level fighter I don't see anything else there.
I'd say Alex Arthur has more ability, as a fellow WBO Interim/Vacant oh just give him the belt champion.

x2. i think Norton would pose Enzo some horrible stylistic questions, also, but am aware i will probably get laughed off the forum for saying soDavidPayne wrote:

Re: Dean Francis: I want Norton and Maccarinelli's overrated
Enzo is a European/fringe world level contender IMO and they should be aiming for Marco Huck not "world" titles.

Re: Dean Francis: I want Norton and Maccarinelli's overrated
OK, so if Enzo is now so shit, why, oh, why were so many people picking him to beat David Haye only 14 months ago? Why was that fight billed as the biggest all-British clash since Benn/Eubank?DavidPayne wrote:He got done when green by Swaby, frightened the shit out of by Scott and had a huge struggle with Hobbo, all before being sparked out by Haye and done in by Olafabi.

I'm not saying I disagree, by the way, it's just Enzo can't go from being a 50/50 to beat Haye to then being someone who's going to struggle to win a British title.

i never saw Haye Enzo as anything like 50/50. not even close. I'm not sure if anyone outside SN or wales really did? and i promise this isn't just wise after the event....

Re: Dean Francis: I want Norton and Maccarinelli's overrated
Francis is way past his sell by date and is not big enough to be a cruiserweight. He drew his last fight with Joey Vegas who weighed 190lbs Francis 200lb Cruiserweight limit.Vegas had his unbeaten run finished by a raw Danny Macintosh then Nathan Cleverly and Geard Ajetovic.A super middle who cant make the limit anymore moves to light heavyweight any heavier than that is sheer laziness I think he will be exposed in the prise fighter against the bigger guys.
Re: Dean Francis: I want Norton and Maccarinelli's overrated
Francis is the man with something to prove at cruiser after the Vegas draw, hopefully the Prizefighter tournament can be used as a springboard
Re: Dean Francis: I want Norton and Maccarinelli's overrated
I would never knowingly over-sell Enzo, but fail to see how Francis would be anything over than cannon fodder for him.
At cruiser, he'd be utterly immobile, have no power and get battered.
People I like on this forum have advanced his cause, so I don't want to seem rude, but I'd weigh in large on a very early stoppage.

I'd have to agree....he froze and was destroyed by a superior Haye and had good moments before being hammered last time out..
But Francis is no world beater..

Francis won't beat Enzo, unless Enzo is completely mentally shot.
Francis isn't big enough, he would be outgunned and Enzo would stop him.
Francis has a dicky shoulder, he would be fighting above his best weight, and he's not exactly a spring chicken either.

That's the same fat, one-armed Francis who couldn't beat Joey Vegas. Maccarinelli would slaughter him. Don't get the 35-year-old cruiserweight Francis of 2009, mixed up with 23-year-old super-middleweight Francis of 1997.
Re: Dean Francis: I want Norton and Maccarinelli's overrated
Maccarinelli's been dealt a shitty hand, I'm more inclined to believe the layoff, being fucked around by Warren and simply underestimating his opponent are more likely reasons for his loss to Olafabi, who may well end up proving to be a world class cruiser. The loss to Haye means next to nothing in terms of him being overrated.
Dean Francis?? Come on.

Francis every day of week on this, think a lot of Enzo drive/desire/determination came from being with JC and his dad and trying not to be second best. Last two fights have been nightmare for Enzo and if you are fringe and not world class the doubts will step in. Enzo down in last 2 fights will doubt his own ability and needs a gimme against someone like Arslan who couldn't knock one out in his hand let alone the ring

I feel sorry for Enzo. He needs to fight regularly -3-4 times before the year is out.Would do him the world of good.
