Carl Froch’s trainer Robert McCracken believes that British fight fans should enjoy Carl Froch while they can. McCracken won British and Commonwealth titles as well as challenging for the World title during his own career and as a trainer he has successfully guided Froch all the way to the WBC World Super Middleweight title.
The Nottingham man is Britain’s only reigning World Champ and he makes his first defence at the MGM Grand at Foxwoods Resort Casino in Connecticut on Saturday night against former Undisputed World Middleweight Champ, Jermain “Bad Intentions” Taylor.
It’s a fight that British and Irish fight fans can see live and exclusive via an online pay per view at frochvtaylor.com and McCracken believes that viewers will witness a special performance from Froch on what promises to be an historic night for British boxing.
“Carl’s a special fighter and people should enjoy him while he’s fighting because he’s a one off and there won’t be another one like him for 50 years,” said McCracken.
“He’s the complete package, he can fight, he can box, he can punch and he can take a punch, he entertains the fans and he’s as dedicated to the sport as anyone I’ve ever seen.
“Taylor’s a great fighter but Carl’s a bit special and that’s why he’s taken the fight. He’s not asked for any favours, he’s coming over here in his first defence to take on a top, top fighter but I’ve every confidence in him because I know what he’s capable of producing.”
Froch V Taylor is live and exclusive on frochvtaylor.com from 2am GMT in the early hours of Sunday morning. Orders are now being taken for the fight which costs £9.95 (or €11.00 for Irish viewers) and the fight will be available in both 750kb/s and 1mb/s to give fight fans a true quality streaming experience. For further information visit frochvtaylor.com.

There must be a new record for the amount of threads about the same person in the shortest amount of time.
On a more serious note this whole froch and tv saga is not doing any good to frochs rep. If this board is reflective of the greater boxing public then froch has definatley been tainted

Normally I would have a dig at the amount of press releases coming from Hennessy Sports - but I have banged on about Carl Froch since day one - regardless of the result against Jermain Taylor I remain convinced Froch will prove his worth as a major world class talent.
McCracken is right to bang on about Froch.
Hennessy is right to bang on about Froch.
TV companies are nothing but a bunch of ****s for not paying what is the "norm" or the "going rate" for this fight!!!
Watch the TV companies come running when Froch wins this fight - I wonder what Hennessy's stance will be then - I hope he tells Setanta the "self proclaimed" home of boxing to go and f*ck themselves - stated it on another thread - regardless of whether I am biting my massive nose to spite my face I have cancelled my subscriptions !!!
Pricinciples have taken over now - they can f*ck off.

Has Froch ever fought on Setanta? Or a Henessey show for that matter? Maybe they have but I can't remember one since I've been subscribed. All this bashing Setanta is bollocks in my opinion, I know the are the "self proclaimed" home of boxing but they don't show Hatton or Kahn and they are the most popular/well known boxers on these shores, last few Froch fights I've seen have been on Sky Sports or ITV so I think the blame lies with them not SetantaSpud wrote:Normally I would have a dig at the amount of press releases coming from Hennessy Sports - but I have banged on about Carl Froch since day one - regardless of the result against Jermain Taylor I remain convinced Froch will prove his worth as a major world class talent.

I may be wrong but wasn't the Barney fight on Setanta? Either way I agree with you, Setanta aren't responsible for this imo, ITV should have worked out a deal with Hennessey.youngrell wrote:Has Froch ever fought on Setanta? You could be right mate, I couldn't recall anything I've seen personally, but all the Setanta bashing is out of line me thinks! They are the best thing that's happened to Boxing for years in the UK. I love football but don't care too much for Setanta's coverage, I subscribe purely for their boxing coverage. In fact I only signed up after going to watch Calzaghe v Kessler live and wanted to watch it on TV immediately the next day!Lenny wrote:I may be wrong but wasn't the Barney fight on Setanta? Dont overlook the fact Froch HAD to fight Taylor as his mandatory because he won a vacated belt. Non?
Imagine the trouble MH would have had interesting US TV in a British show for the first defence if Taylor said no?
Froch had no choice to go to the US, he's embraced it and fair play to him.
But lets not suggest there were a host of alternate paths around Taylor.

no taylor didnt want the fight too much he had ways around alos froch could of done a voluntary defence first
put simply
froch needs taylor more than taylor needs froch

Re: McCracken – Britian’s Got Talent with Froch
I dont see how Froch gets a voluntary.
Taylor didn't want to fight Froch for the vacant belt, preferred to fight Lacy in an eliminator he didn't need to have.
But I dont think Froch could get around Taylor.
I see Lacy v Jones Jnr. is rumoured....crickey, Jones could be 72, he'd still pepper Lacy all night.

Re: McCracken – Britian’s Got Talent with Froch
You all seem to be missing the point entirely. This fight is a victim of the recession, pure and simple. I don't know what MH wanted or if that's the real reason the fights not on UK TV. My opinion is that MH channel hopped too much early on, for whatever reason, and then after finding a sympathetic ear at ITV and enjoying a reasonably successful debut with Froch, decent rating good fight, good result etc, he has taken him to the US to fight in the middle of the night and even on ITV in front of a reduced UK audience, that I feel is the real problem TV wise.
ITV are in trouble no doubt, as are all TV companies due to the credit crunch and ITV even moreso due to their budgets being cut and their advertising revenue being seriously reduced due to the CC.
Their Sport budget was diminished by their FA Cup bid and their phone-fixing fine thus everyone accross the ITV network has to take a haircut. ITV are tightening their belts right through the organisation and Boxing, remember is not cheap TV. BGT is cheap TV and delivers massive ratings.
At prime time in the UK, I feel sure Froch V Taylor would be on ITV, finances aside, of course it would and the previous rating against Pascal and those of Khan prior to that show that Boxing is an attractive proposition for ITV to attract advertisers, especially I assume, if at prime time, following the aforementioned Britains Got Talent.
ITV rely on advertisers, not licence payers or indeed subscriptions and, if that income is down so is their available and disposable rights revenue.
Quite simply taking Froch to the US and having an after midnight (2am earliest) start is a simply ludicrous proposition for ITV to entertain and if they stood a chance cover their costs with advertising and potential viewers then this scenario simply doesn't work for them.
Sky and Setanta, possibly, probably would have taken it too but again, their budgets are mostly allocated contractually so why should either invest in Froch when history tells them MH channel hops with Froch, ni problem with that if needs must. To have Froch, for a on-off and then watch him go back to ITV next time, is not going to happen for the money MH no doubt wanted and maybe needed from TV, who knows?
This fight not being on TV is a result of the current climate and possibly, poor housekeeping by MH when the fight was planned with DiBella. MH loves FRoch and maybe done his sums weraring rose tinted glasses.
I don't think (Providing MH's demands weren't too high) that blame can be put and at one door and it is, as I said, a victim, maybe and probably the first of many, of the current recesssion.
For Carl Froch to slag off UK TV companies and for MH to say no-one is interested weks before was/is not smart business and it hardly sets the market alight either now or in the future. Maybe if MH hadn't made these statements, saying no one is interested, he may have had an offer. Sky and Setanta may have come in but knowing their was no other interest maybe sat back looking to snipe a cheap 11th hour deal. MH announcing the internet deal blew any chance of this so maybe all parties missed the boat and wore their 'Poker-Faces' too long.
However, people on here, slagging off TV companies and MH is not productive in any way without the full facts being known. Moreover, cancelling subscriptions is stupid too, who are you harming by doing that, not the TV companies, they will just cut-their-cloth-accordingly and as a result more big fights may fall victim in a similar way.
If you are a boxing fan and truly care about the sport you will stop the negativity on this one and make MH's internet a success (No I dont work for him either) and then maybe TV will take notice of the demand and bear it in mind for next time Froch fights.
These are hard times for everyone, boxing isn't exempt. If greed was the factor in this situation then this is the result, however, I think muliple problems for numerous parties are the reasons
this fight isn't on.
The timing, venue didn't help I am sure and ITV aside, I feel that Sky may also be peeved about throwing Froch a TV lifeline after the BBC pulled out and then seeing him defect hasn't helped whereas Setanta are struggling period.

Re: McCracken – Britian’s Got Talent with Froch
A very rounded view, even though it has been alledged you are involved with a rival promoter, I am sure even MH himself would say that is a fairly accurate assessment of the situation.boxingchat wrote:You all seem to be missing the point entirely. I am simply stunned at boxing fans closing Setanta's subscription based on one fight that made no business sense to try and secure the right to. Why show Froch vs Taylor, when a similar negotiating hurdle would be needed for the next Froch fight... Hennessy works with ITV.... if Hennessy secured the rights to Froch's next fight, then surely it would fall under his ITV contract. Setanta are still very much the home of boxing, but then again I'm not one am not particularly "nationlistic" when it comes to boxing. I'd much rather watch say Abraham vs Sturm than Barker vs McDermott. I simply love the coverage Setanta are showing US and European boxing!
On a side, don't forget Setanta are showing Pensola's fight on delayed on Sunday.

Believe it or not, Promoters are not, contrary to what most of you believe, at war 24/7. Most, if not all, are aware of each others TV issues and of the consequences of the recession, which isn't biting sport too badly as yet due to contracts being in place pre-recession. However, come renewal time things may change dramatically in sport as a whole. Footballers are getting the hang of it and Boxers too need to releise that the money and demands they may have got 18 months ago simply cannoit be met now as the money isn't there any more. They too must lower their demands or see the sport off TV ala Froch V Taylor.
MH has done a good job in the short time he has been in Boxing so fair play to him for getting on with it, credit him for that, many would have pulled out and waited for a TV opportunity.
