calzaghes advice to froch in the sun

Post by boxerbob »

if he wants to be the best like he was he has to beat kessler

eh???????????

joe my son....froch is fighting taylor in his 1st defence away from home - who did you fight???? , branco sobat

it took you 10 years to fight the best in the division , froch is doing that in his 1st defence

the only reason you went undeafeated joe was because you were the most protected british fighter ever ffs , taylor is better than kessler , taylor has also beat hopkins twice , yeah a younger hopkins at a lower weight

you were lucky to get a decision against a 43 year old.....oh roy jones what age was he??

froch is acting like a real champ , he is fighting the best straight away.....can you say that joe???

if your answer is yes then you are a liar , just like your book regarding jones jnr...a total lie

stay retired - you wont be missed

What did Calzaghe say that was incorrect? Or is this just a typical anti-Calzaghe rant?

in his book??...that RJJ was shot and that he wouldn't fight him. About a year before he fought him.

As regards Hopkins and 43yr old.....don't be fooled. Hopkins is world level and lives in the gym. If you look after yourself right, with the right style of fighting, you will always get exceptions. It's just a number.

Calzaghe, yes, protected , but still better than Froch, probably for another 3 years. Froch certainly more Cavalier in his approach, but he hasn't won yet, and whilst I would like him to, I think Frochy will get stopped, but I really hope I' wrong!!

Yeah, but I presume in The Sun, he has said Froch needs to beat Kessler to prove himself to be the No 1 super-middle.

I take it the interview went something like this:

Journalist: Joe, do you think Froch needs to beat Mikkel Kessler to prove he is the best super-middleweight in the world like you did?

Calzaghe: Yes

Why do people read this pathetic excuse for a "paper".

Damn, it just baffles me that people can actually pay money to read something that is in trouble nearly every day for talking rubbish.

tbh i think what Joe's said is about right... no way Taylors even close to Kessler.. If they both ever met it would be a easy KO for Kessler IMO.. Same for if Kessler met Froch i would anticipate he would give Froch a right hiding. I think its easy to say that Kesslers no 1 in the division at the moment, He just needs to get dome bigger fights..

Not so easy in my opinion. When Kesser stepped up he was clearly outboxed by Cazaghe. Since then he has not exactly fought top draw opponents.

Taylor is not an easy KO for anyone. He is a quaity fighter. I agree that Kessler is a good shout for being top dog in the division, but it is by no means clear cut.

I fail to see how Taylor stops him. Froch is far from elusive and while Taylor dropped Pavlik admittedly, but didn't put a dint in two Light-Middles and Froch holds a shot well. It isn't like he's suddenly in with a massive puncher.

I agree

I use to read the Sun alot when I was younger then I stopped buying that and bought the Daily Star every day

I have recently quit buying any daily tabloid paper

The reason is I found myself getting angry reading the Daily Star it is so full of shit - a complete comic book - just bragging about Celebritys latest handbag - and night out in a club spending £10,000 on a bar bill of Champayne, etc

Complete load of rubbish - my mind is alot clearer without reading all that shit everyday

The only paper I buy now is the Sunday Mirror

Anyway - to Joe Calzaghe

He is unbeaten because he was managed well - but lets not be silly - he is also unbeaten because he was a very good fighter - if he had fought a prime Roy Jones and Bernard Hopkins , etc in America he probaly would have lost against Jones ar least but he is still a very good fighter.

Froch is already more popular with the 'real' boxing fans and he hasn't even defended his title.
Feck Joe, the ponce who always needed an advantage when fighting.
Froch is giving away all the advantages.
Froch, Haye and Hatton are a breath of fresh-air.
All of them are odds-on to lose.
Apart from Lacy, who was a slight favourite at 10/11, Calzaghe has always been massive favourite.
That says volumes.
No time for Calzaghe - the guy had world-class skills but didn't want to put it all on the line.
First defence - Sobot or Taylor away from home.
Which fight would you prefer to see?
Joe is a mouthy prat - I hope he just stops spouting this useless drivel.
Rant over.

calzaghe should get behind froch & do his best to promote the sport,in the same fashion benn & eubanks gave him a leg up on tv saying he's the best ever, giving him recognition.

as 4 kessler i really rate him good champion who travels anywhere, apart from jc he's fought alot of the old european champs & mundine & been impressive.
know one knows how really good kessler is.the lacy fight has since been devalued.

Credit to Calzaghe, he did beat Lacy and Kessler convincingly.

But I just don't have the patience to watch Calzaghe type career development any more.

Credit to Froch, going after the Taylor fight.

Now he just has to win. Hope he does it. 2 or 3 solid wins of Taylor's calibre and Froch will be regarded as Joe's equal.

Kessler was 1st in line, the top man after Calzaghe went away. Kessler has done hardly anything since, has totally disappeared from sight, has gone stagnant with his WBA title. He's blowing his prime, or his promotional problems are. No one cares about Kessler any more, even if he's better than Taylor.

Yeah Kessler has become a bit irrelevant of late. Will be interesting to see what movements are made after the Froch/Taylor fight. You'd expect Kessler to pipe up, but we shall see.

I think majority of people agree that Joe Calzaghe had a "safe" career

While Froch is putting it all on the line in USA in his 1st defence against the former undisputed middleweight champion !!!!!!!!!!!!

Apparently Kessler is having issues with his promoter - I assume this is the reason its all been a bit quiet on the Kessler front. Last I heard they were trying to match Kessler with Mads Larsen.

Anyway back to topic I have to say although some have dismissed boxerbob's post as a rant, I'm inclined to agree with him. It frustrates me that Calzaghe badmouths Froch, who takes on a genuine world-class talent in the USA whilst he was content to defend in wales for ten years against, for the most part, nobodies before taking a 50/50 fight. Sad thing is I actually think Calzaghe is a better fighter than Froch and had the talent to achieve so much more. But I'll still give him his due - he was/is one of Britain's best.

I have to say I absolutely catergorically agree with that 100%, the only argument could be the Kessler part. :TU:

look i am the original poster and going on whats been written many agree with me.......froch is doing what champions should do - fight the best

have a look at the prediction league and see who ive picked to win the fight - its taylor

why??....he has fought and beat better guys that froch , froch has it all to prove but if he indeed beats taylor he has a massive career infront of him.

i want froch to win but i see taylor winning on points

Froch will need a stoppage to win this one. He won`t get a points victory over Timmy Taylor
