Yeah I will definitely Ian, well worth the wait, I'll be looking forward to it all day.
The advice to keep the sound off till they're in the ring is good. Some joker is bound say it's a fight of the year candidate, or something like that, then any early knockdowns, and you KNOW they're getting up and coming back.

I just can't watch a sporting event after its happened, so the answers no.

It reminds me of an old Likely Lads episode, where the 2 lads were trying to avoid the result of an England football match (I think)
They got thru the whole day without finding out the result, with a few laughs along the way, only to find the match had been postponed
You wouldn't believe Im only 35

Re: Anyone else going to try and not know the result till 8.30pm
It was a brilliant episode, I saw it years ago and I now have all the DVDs. I remember some of the Ali bouts were shown the following evening on ITV. There was a report in the paper about a man who didnt go to work that day and shut himself in his bedroom until just before the fight. I listened to the early morning news to get the result. Everyone talked about Ali fights so unless you did what that man did you were bound to hear who won. Froch is no Ali so I suppose you could get through the day without hearing the result. I sat down to watch the F1 Grand Prix and the news was just finishing and they bloody well gave the result. Had it been football they would have told you to look away now and just put the result up on the screen.the patriot wrote:It reminds me of an old Likely Lads episode, where the 2 lads were trying to avoid the result of an England football match (I think)

Problem for me is that i'm at a charity football match on Sunday, so its a fair chance that someone might say the result.

to alesser extent i done the same with a Guzman vs campbell ( think it was him ) fight and got up in the sunday afternoon and Setanta was showing some other fight 5 mins after the programme started and i was thinking ive missed it again must have been an early knockout.
Should have known better with Guzman though

I'm not bothered if I know the result before 8:30pm, if I come on the internet I probably couldn't resist a sneak peek anyway.

just managed it, although my tw*t of a brother in law came walking in tonight and asked what I thought of result, once i told him i would mess him up if he told me (and he's about 50lbs heavier than me so knows i wasn't messing) he pissed off. Have not been so nervous since leeds v coventry FA cup semi in 1998 ish. Nice to see the Cobra listed as Boxrec No1 SMW

Avoiding fight results is a piece of piss under normal circumstances.
Avoid fellow boxing fans, or at least request in advance that they don't tell you the result. I have found they always respect that.
Do not open any emails or texts from boxing fans.
Do not turn on sports channels, teletext or radio.
DO NOT COME ON BOXREC FORUMS AND CLICK ON THREADS ABOUT THE FIGHT AND THEN COMPLAIN WHEN YOU LEARN THE RESULT.
The last one especially is not exactly rocket science written in Greek, is it? But it happens all the time.

I did try but out of habbit clicked on a forum that had the thread title, Taylor's problem was his stamina, which sort of gave it away but I kept telling myself it didnt mean he lost and avoided the result for the rest of the day

Avoided it and was blokey emotional when he was pouring it on because I had him way down. I thought Rob McCracken was word perfect in the corner.
