John needs to fight a live opponant not a 18-7 stiff, Kelly would be to much of a jump in class but get him against Geale or Sturm to build up nicely

Agree 100% i think he must get in with either manferdo or chavez jr next.failedairman wrote:John needs to fight a live opponant not a 18-7 stiff, Kelly would be to much of a jump in class but get him against Geale or Sturm to build up nicely

He needs to change his style in the way Gatti did, if he does and with some good management he could win a world title.

Duddy gets hit too much. Sturm would box rings around him.
A geriatric Eastman gave him terrible problems.

Why dont they get that Javier "I'm a 103 years old" Castillo (sp) who won a title a year or so ago.
Re: Duddy weighs in at 157!
Why doesn't he lose 3 pounds and fight me for the European/WBC eliminator?? What do you guy's think?

Now thats a proper fight.
Buts its so obvious that Pavlik v Duddy is the end game, then Lee......

Because Duddy's team are gonna hold out for a big payday against someone like pavlik in my opinion. I think there a lot of fighters who would beat him with that non-existant defense, including you. His team are not gonna take the risk.Mooresy wrote:Why doesn't he lose 3 pounds and fight me for the European/WBC eliminator?? What do you guy's think?

Re: Duddy weighs in at 157!
I like Duddy. Nice guy, good honest pro...however....Just my opinion but when I hear some of the names being mentioned I struggle to pick Duddy in any of them :surprised:
Sturm would keep it long and outbox him, as probably would the classy Geale, who possesses a quality jab and left hook. Castillejo seems a viable proposition after being KO'd by Sylvester and is perhaps (finally, at 40!) on the decline, but he's still immensly strong and pretty durable.
As for Kelly Pavlik - would it even be close? Jamie Moore I would fancy too if the too met.
Billy Lyell is a decent keep busy foe but Duddy is currently fighting below the European level radar in this fight and also the one with Vanda.

Re: Duddy weighs in at 157!
That'd be the ideal situation but it seems Duddy and his (potential)new promoter Bob Arum would prefer a fight with Kelly Pavlik.Mooresy wrote:Why doesn't he lose 3 pounds and fight me for the European/WBC eliminator?? What do you guy's think?
Although Duddy's trainer Pat Burns would prefer the 154lb route.
However with Bob Arum promoting Julio Cesar Chavez jnr, I reckon a fight with him would be more likely if he moved down.
I doubt Arum would even be aware that a fight between yourself and Duddy could do 10,000-15,000 in Ireland, that'd be the end of shitty leisure centres too if you could win that.
Hopefully John looks good tonight, continues to show improvement in his boxing, doesn't needlessly go to war, doesn't pick up a cut and as a bonus stopping Lyell would be great.
I wish the opponent was a bit better, but on the bright side at least Duddy is being kept active, and weighing in comfortably at 157 he's showing he can make 154 lbs, which is where he should be fighting imo.

cos you'd probably take him to piecesMooresy wrote:Why doesn't he lose 3 pounds and fight me for the European/WBC eliminator?? What do you guy's think?

He should fight Julio Cesar Chavez jr as that would be a step up and closer to Pavliks level but i still think Pav will have to much for Duddy

Just about to say the same thing he has made great improvments in his last two fights with burns , although not sure about pavlik, was burns training taylor when he fought pav?sligobhoy67 wrote:serious question, when is that last time you saw him fight?DavidPayne wrote:Duddy gets hit too much. Re: Duddy weighs in at 157!
That's simply untrue, for 9 rounds Vanda barely layed a glove on him and Duddy boxed really well, comfortably dealing with Vanda(who Julio Cesar Chavez Jnr had hell with in their first fight), in the corner before the 10th round Burns told Duddy to step it up and he abandoned his boxing style and went back to being a brawler. It didn't work so well and Duddy took a bit of a hammering in the 10th round. Now in that round he did take plenty of shots, however that was the only round where he was allowed to go back to the old way.Terry D wrote:In Duddy's last fight it was all about getting hit, and he got hit often by trying not to get hit! With that said Sturm is absolutely shite, he really is, never say never.
When he boxed and tried to avoid getting hit, he didn't get hit. If anything that 10th round will have done him good just to show him he should stay boxing and not brawling, because when he brawls the quality of fighter he is goes down 2 levels.
Re: Duddy weighs in at 157!

Imagine what a live opponent would have done to Duddyfailedairman wrote:John needs to fight a live opponant not a 18-7 stiff
Re: Duddy weighs in at 157!
It suprises me how highly ranked John Duddy is within the Governing bodies , internet sites , and Boxing mags for the level of opposition he has beaten.
Mathew Macklin should be ranked higher is a better fighter and has beaten better opposition.

You think Pavlik would be too much for Duddy? Jeez, I think Duddy wouldn't be able to last the distance even if it scheduled for three rounds.alexpaterson wrote:He should fight Julio Cesar Chavez jr as that would be a step up and closer to Pavliks level but i still think Pav will have to much for Duddy
