i don't mind the match...it's a good ring-rust shaker for Danny. Even the undercard is o.k.Eric t wrote:No way in the world am i booking it, no way, he ain't ripping me off, everyone should boycott this fight, he is giving you a mismatch and taking your money.
i just don't like parting with $50 for it as a ppv

50 bucks for 2 rounds of one way traffic.
I booked mundine vs crazy kim and taylor, they were mismatches but mundine ain't a huge puncher, he doesn't often end fights early and i enjoy watching his speed.
Re: why has green made his fight with Anthony van Niekerk a ppv
So you book to see Mundine fight Mismatches and a crap undercard. But wont watch Green fight against Van Neirek with a great undercard

Mundine undercards are pretty good i reckon, often kerry foley and zac awad and some other up and comers fight on them.
Re: why has green made his fight with Anthony van Niekerk a ppv
sorry mate. Cannot run with you there. They are generally some of the biggest mismatches going around. For every good fight on a mundine undercard i will give you 3 absolute rubbish ones.Eric t wrote:ben k wrote:So you book to see Mundine fight Mismatches and a crap undercard. You do not get men who have recently been World Champion in free to air fights.
Re: why has green made his fight with Anthony van Niekerk a ppv
true. But there have been ppv fights at $30 recently. Do you think this fight should be shown with a premium price tag. It is almost (and i only mean almost) mundinesk.Brute wrote:You do not get men who have recently been World Champion in free to air fights.
Re: why has green made his fight with Anthony van Niekerk a ppv
Tell Danny about it. If I watch it it will be at the club.

Will it make its way to pubs over east? I am going to a pub to watch it. It is a good undercard, but I wouldn't pay the $50 unless I had a bunch of mates coming over to watch the card with me and split the cost.

Re: why has green made his fight with Anthony van Niekerk a ppv
this is why boxing in oz doesn't get a mainstream following...this card should not be PPV.Brute wrote:You do not get men who have recently been World Champion in free to air fights.
no chance.
Re: why has green made his fight with Anthony van Niekerk a ppv
As someone who fought at prelim limit for little return in the 1970s and has seen how a lot of old boxers end up I do not begrudge them whatever they can earn. If boxing does not get a "mainstream" following (whatever that means) it is because of poor media coverage.adamheight wrote:this is why boxing in oz doesn't get a mainstream following...this card should not be PPV.Brute wrote:You do not get men who have recently been World Champion in free to air fights.

I will agree with that, I honestly believe i'm 1 of Greens biggest fans, but $50 for this card is rude... very rude.
The undercard isn't great, Asiku vs st claire sub par, both are virtually finished.
Cool Willie vs Seran, i've seen every prospect and journey man beat seran.
The Wills fight is a sparring session.
The only good fight on the undercard is Bryant vs Lo porto. Which will be better veiwing than the main event.
This will be the first fight since the Rhone Roberts fight i have not seen Danny fight in, and it's because it's $50 bucks.
I hope this doesn't become a trend Danny, because one of the things that made you redeemable to the Australian public was that we got value for money, not clone Mundine cards.
Peace, one of your biggest fans.
Re: why has green made his fight with Anthony van Niekerk a ppv
How is a PPV fight priced anyway? I would have thought that 'Main Event' would have made that decision.
Surely they offered to broadcast the fight, offered a deal to Green Machine to do so then decided how much they would have to charge to make a profit? Think about it. If you were going to fight Billy Bloggs and one of Rupert's people came along and offered you millions of dollars to have the rights to broadcast it, would you tell him to go away?
Green Machine Promotions is not the St. Vincent de Paul Society, they are there to make money.

Fight is at an 82 kg catchweight. Green looked very fit at 81.8.
Every one weighed in today no dramas. Bryant Loporto will be a cracker in my poinion.

Re: why has green made his fight with Anthony van Niekerk a ppv
I might buy it i think. I want to see how he goes first hand, and none of the pubs around here will put it on. The pubs in the eastern side of victoria hate putting fights on in the evenings. Too much trouble. Can't blame them, but it gives me the shi1ts.
Re: why has green made his fight with Anthony van Niekerk a ppv
Thank fark for Marion hotel. The only pub in SA i know of that shows nearly every fight. Bless them. IMO Danny needs to get this guy out of there quick.Know he may want rounds etc and does have rust to shed BUT......needs to make an impression and take this bloke out quick.
Re: why has green made his fight with Anthony van Niekerk a ppv
yeah no way will i pay $50 for this card. these are the sort of cards that should cost $10 or something. ok so the fighters need to make a living. fine. but lets be fair on the punters hey.
i'm cheering for green but i just don't see value for money. the recent katsidis card had a pretty good international standard line up and was $29. and they want more $ for an average at best card for todays. sorry but no deal.

Gave it a miss. Saw the highlights and the South African seemed to be all mouth and pockets.
Didn't Green look fit!

I caved in(Hypocrite), and it wasn't a bad card, the Bryant/ Loporto fight was amazing, honestly it was a war, I agreed with Bens scoring of the fight though, i thought Bryant stole it and if another round was scheduled Lo Porto was in trouble, there has to be a rematch.
Kickett doesn't look like he's improved on his defence, but he looked good from round 3 onwards.
Gairy St Claire is finished, what i seen last night was extremely painful to watch, here's a guy that doesn't normally get hit, last night he got pummeled at will, you've been good for the sport Gairy, now it's time to leave before you get really hurt.
Did Danny Green get out of second gear, he looked extremely nervous....but fit.
I really hope he go's after a world title again and isn't relying on Mundine to come to the party as easily as he thinks it's going to be.
I hope Green/Mundine 2 happens, i just want to see a world title up for grabs, and that means Danny needs to pursuit that title first.
Mundine has his own schedule to win a middleweight title, and i hope after the shit cards we had to endure to see Mundine make Middleweight, I feel as though Australia is owed the Geale,Sturm and Pavlik path.
Looking back with the potential Danny has will he be satisfied with just Drews and Lucas as his best wins, Danny has smashed a lot of contenders like Delisle, Griffen and so on, but with his raw punching power could honestly accounted for a lot more recognised victims both in europe and the US.
Green is now the 5th ranked LT/heavy in the world according to Boxrec.

Re: why has green made his fight with Anthony van Niekerk a ppv
Got to the pub late so didnt see all the fights but of the ones i saw;
Kickett really worries me. Perhaps was just very tentative in the first few but no change to his style and i reckon until he does change i will watch him with the ever present fear that he will be drooped by a right hand at any second. HE got clocked too many times and if Seran can do it then most can. It seemed he does not commit fully to throwing his jab at times and at such moments he is very vulnerable. I really like the kid and do hope he does well but reckon he will be KOd again soon.
Gary MUST retire. That fight was sickening. Have not seen Asiku much previously but he seemed to have improved-shots were hard, clean and crisp and seemed to be moving well. But St Clair is ......SHOT. Please retire.
Green- looked really good physically.Seemed cautious. Result was predictable but at least Green disposed of him how he should have and quickly(unlike a certain mundane fighter i can think of). Hard to take to much from the fight but good to see him back. Still do not know if he has any inclination to press for other fights aside from Mundine and of course even if that one happens he will have to keep busy. I PRAY he will go down the title path.Could be some good fights made. At LHW i think he will be able to demonstrate his power more so than at SMW(which could be frightening) and am confident his stamina will be better by far.

Re: why has green made his fight with Anthony van Niekerk a ppv
I paid a lot more than $50 to go and watch the fights and can say every cent was worth it. Besides waiting an hour to get into the venue and as long for a beer it was a great night of boxing. From speaking to the guys who I know watched on PPV they were very happy with the card, which isn't always the opinion of mundines or the USA cards. As usual GMP has put together a very good card.
