I think someone hit it on the head when they mentioned how Lewis and especially Holyfield, pushed Tyson back. If you just lean on Tyson's shoulders you're asking for it, but if you claim him properly, prevent him working and push him off, you can counter him. And remember, Tyson's legs aren't what they used to be. Holyfield and Lewis bullied him on the inside – so did Botha if you remember.
Even at his peak, if you tied him up properly, Tyson was actually pretty ineffective on the inside (see Bonecrusher fight).
I don't think Danny is particularly strong on the inside, hence the bulking up – his arms look even bigger than usual.
However, Danny doesn't look fazed at all which is good and with Jimmy Mac being behind him every day for weeks, Danny will be in great shape, no doubt about that.
What I will say, is that Danny's not fighting at home and won't get no favours – plus, if the referee is a fusspot, Danny's in trouble because he'll get points taken off if he's going to pull Tyson's head down and wrestle.

You may well be right, I've said before that the biggest weakness in Tysons fighting style is that he CANNOT fight on the backfoot. This is one of the reasons I've always picked a prime Foreman over a prime Tyson. I also think the reason Holyfield could manhandle Tyson wasn't just down to physical strength, it was also down to Tysons diminished balance and footwork.jamesmcdonnell wrote:I'll tell you what Danny should do, is what Lewis and Holyfield both did to good effect, and that is to push Tyson off when he comes in. Holyfield did this to Tyson in their first fight, and what shocked me was how much stronger than Tyson he seemed to be, I remember how he was tossing Tyson around like a rag doll.
However Danny Williams doesn't have the chin of Lewis or Holyfield which helped them stand up to Tyson, also Lewis and Holyfield were not intimidated by Tyson, but will Williams be?
I'd love to see Williams win this but see it following a simular path to Tyson Vs Bruno 2, even though Tyson is nearly shot I still think he is a class above Williams.
Definitely a class above. The best guy Williams has fought is Sanil Sam who whalloped him. He really hasnt fought and beaten anyone of note he will get blasted out and quickly.
People need to face the fact that Williams has never been that good. It's all been talk of what he can do in the gym and all this nonsense at the end of the day he has been woeful in his last 6 fights. I think the only time he ever impressed me was in the second Francis fight other than that he has been a letdown since I can remember. I cant see any reasons he will change all of a sudden can anyone really see it?

Bruno had a different kind of strength, he was a lot stiffer than Danny, which hampered him in using those muscles. I think Danny is naturally a much much bigger man than Bruno, who never weighed more than about 240 as I remember, and was 'pumped up' with weight training. Danny's strength is more natural, he was in the 240's even early in his career.KOJOE90 wrote:But do you think Wtlliams will be any better at holding and surviving? Actually when I mentioned Bruno I was thinking more along the strength, weight and size lines.
I'm not so sure mate, Danny may naturally be slightly bigger than Bruno and less stiff, but I've always been of the opinion that Bruno was physically stronger than Danny. In all of Bruno's fights he appeared as strong if not stronger than almost all of his opponents it terms of pure physical strength. That's not something I feel I can say about Danny Williams.jamesmcdonnell wrote:Bruno had a different kind of strength, he was a lot stiffer than Danny, which hampered him in using those muscles. I've stood next to both men, and Danny Williams has a much bigger frame. He has broader shoulders, a deeper chest, and a much bigger waist, his legs are also much bigger. Bruno was very strong, but in a very 'unelastic' way. It's worth noting that the guys he was stronger than were mostly hand picked bums.

From what I've seen I dont' think, for all his size, Williams is the strongest heavyweight out there. Remember round 3 against Keith Long. Danny couldn't cope with Long's strength and was stung by uppercuts and Sinal Samil Sam pretty much bullied him out of it.
If he gets caught up inside without tying Tyson up properly then he's out of there. Danny's got to set himself and push Tyson back before he gets too close to do any damage – Then he must launch the right hand as Tyson, as he does a lot, falls back onto his heels before resetting himself to attack again.
