The British are gathering quite a collection of exciting fighters.

Froch is now right up there with David Haye.

They're both very similar in many ways.

That was a great ending. Even if the fight had been complete shit to that it would of been worth watching. Last second come from behind knock outs are what makes boxing so great. Anything can happen at any time. After being pissed off about the mismatches in Germany today, I was greatly cheered up by this fight.

That's what I tried telling some of the yanks on the Current Scene, would they listen though? Noooo, now they're claiming Taylor is either shot or somehow managed to beat himself

What's the mandatory situation - are the WBC making him fight another mandatory or is there room to fit something else in?

Dont know what the exact ruling is - but normally after a champion has fulfilled his mandatory requirements in this cas Froch has - he then has so many months before his next one is due - in this time he can have voluntary defences.

I was thinking, given that he won a vacant belt, apparently he has to make 2 mandatories.

Looks like Andre Ward (#2) v Edison Miranda (#7) winner next.

one yank told me that taylor is obviously shot because of how he went down against froch even though taylor went down worse in the first pavlik fight

i think taylor would beat froch because he has mixed it in much higher opposition , froch has got a world title by failing to beat a real world class fighter.

pascal is probably a top 10-15 fighter in the super-middle division

but...... if froch manages to beat taylor then froch will have a massive career as he will have beaten a genuine world class fighter in taylor

now we know people......carl froch is truely a world class fighter , beating taylor has proved this massively

Froch now HAS to stay at home for 2 fights at least and fight one easy voluntary, e.g. Miranda. Just get a good win against an easier foe and in that time he needs to think about whether carrying the left so low could ever be changed or whether it would wreck his style.

Also I thought his footwork last night was very slow compared to Taylor which meant he couldnt get near punching range for the first 5 rounds.
Footwork and defence for me his 2 main weaknesses.

But hey, what a performance, ITV should get RIGHT behind him, his last 2 fights now have been classics, his next fight hopefully could maybe be in a bit bigger venue somewhere, not sure what else Nottingham has tho as the arena I guess is the biggest indoor place they have.

Ive backed Froch through-out, since seeing him on BBC making his early pro waves. You can tell when someone has cewrtain world class atrubutes and Ive always believed Froch has those, so Ive never truly understood the doubters. He has vulnerabilities yes, but he has a world class punch/finish and at any weight thats a leveller.

Froch was 14 seconds from getting beat so it wasnt a bad prediciton, I just don't know why we dont have more faith in our UK boxers, keep the faith lads, I almost lost it halfway through the fight last night was sickened by the first 5-6 rounds!

Defo an easier defence on prime time itv, get himself a half-decent payday.

it's difficult to compare calzaghe & froch.

calzaghe didn't have the marquee names around him at the time.

the middleweight dvision was dead for yrs until the tito-hopkins fight.

the super middleweight division has usually always been fairly dead in as far as names.

the only name around calzaghe was at light heavy.

it's a shame they didn't properly push for that roy jones fight in the early 00's.

I can't see it being a major payday to be honest. Foxwoods is small in crowd terms, Showtime aren't a massive tv company. Overall I can't see the revenues being that big, I think Froch took it more on the chance to make a statement than to make much dosh. As the champ he will have probably got the bigger purse but who knows what they took.

Rematch would get the american tv interested again I suppose. Make Taylor travel this time and take a low purse, basically make him be the beggar this time, give up all the advantages cos that's what Carl did and still won! COME ON! haha

I give Froch all the credit in the world (read my preview on BBN to see what I said, I praise Froch quite a lot, attitude, balls etc etc).

My point (apologies for the 'you talk shite' remark) was that surely a guy who essentially outclasses someone then gets KO'd in the last round deserves a rematch???

I stand by what I say in terms of Froch' ability - many people on here are praising him to the hilt and are using Calzaghe as a comparison to big up Froch so surely an alternative viewpoint is ok as well?

Kessler - wins a wide UD against Froch punctuated by a 2/3 KD's.
Bute - ok maybe I went overboard there, close fight though

Calzaghe - would do a Lacy on Froch, too fast, and Carl is too slow

Deserves to really cash in now, even if its just reward for his attitude.

I would give him 2/3 easyish defences now, people like Miranda, even Quigley to build him up.

Then put Froch in with a Pavlik or a Bute

Then the real test Kessler.
