Maybe Derek's a morning guy - I've never seen him so coherent. Perhaps he's just too sleepy for the evening shows.

Derrick is definately improving with every fight as a analysist, whilst I know some people miss old Gary Mason - I think Derrick is better than him as a commentator.

I think it's just nerves with Derrick I think he will improve as time goes by.

And yes I am one of those guys who still mis Mason.

I remember Mason's legendary comment after about 30 secs of Douglas-Holyfield. Gary immediately announced Douglas was 'shot' or something of the kind. Put his cards right on the table immediately and was proved right.

Apart from Masons strange obsession with Scott Welsh, he spoke a lot of sense IMO.

You might have a point. Maybe it's my imagination but by some of the looks he gets i always get the impression that Paul Dempsey is frantically signalling to the studio commentators as soon as the camera is off him.
You know - wrap it up 10 seconds left, don't talk about that, get to the point etc etc

Perhaps that throws Derrick and Piper doesn't do it.

Glenn McCrory has been rightfully demoted to doing the lower level fights with Adam Smith. Jim Watt has better knowledge and talks more sense, McCrory is out of his depth in the big fights IMO How many times does he say "That's right Ian" It really grates me.

I don't think its a demotion as such, remember Skysports.com announcing McCory recently signed an extension. They said that his work would alter slightly too more "in studio" work and more regular work (i.e. on ringside). I agree Jim is the man (although I love Teddy Atlas also). However, I think they a maybe molding Glenn to the more presenting aspect of the game (probably paid as much as before).
