It would be great. Robbie is a good fighter he just hasnt had the exposure as he is here in Perth. A solid win over Leveni would do his career good.

It's going to be a cracker, i think Leveni is the type of fighter who makes you fight the whole fight, he's a great pressure fighter, i have wanted to see Bryant fight, so this will be good viewing.

Bryant's opponent has been changed to Frank LoPorto.

What do people think is the most likely result here?

No opinions?

I was also wondering if this fight is for the Australian Light Middleweight Title? LoPorto captured that 3 fights ago and hasn't lost since.

I don't think it is Jezza. Its scheduled for 6 rounds so unless they change it to 10 it isnt happening.

LaPorto is tough but i think Bryant will have to much for him. Should be a good fight though.

Good to hear, I hope you are right.

Sounds like a Bryant decision victory is the most likely result.

Robbie wuz robbed!

Not really. Although I did score the fight for Bryant, it was certainly a close contest, as the scorecards suggested. LoPorto won the first round clearly, wobbling Bryant with several hard head shots. Rounds 2 and 3 were closely contested and could have gone either way IMO. LoPorto was the more active in round 4, so I gave him that round. Bryant knocked LoPorto down in the 5th with a left hook, and had the upper hand for most of the round. Round 6 also was clearly for Bryant, but both fighters took plenty of leather, LoPorto being battered on the ropes near the end of the round.

I'd say Robbie was unlucky to lose, but it was an excellent fight, and hopefully a learning experience for him. I still think he is a real chance for an Australian title within the next year or two.

I agree with everything you said. LoPorto is a very good opponent and would beat most aussie fighters around that weight

A narrow split decision loss to an Australian champion is no disgrace.

It was a great fight, I was judging it. I had it 57-56 to Bryant. The other 2 had it 57-56 for LoPorto. Was a really competitive fight and I hope they have a rematch.

It would be interesting. LoPorto had the better of the early going. Bryant came on strong in the last few rounds.

After 2 rounds i thought someone is going to get stopped. But to there credit they both have great chins and fitness and lasted the distance. Over 8 or 10 would be interesting.

I was actually a little more than worried early on, as I know that LoPorto has experience in long fights that Bryant doesn't. Robbie has had a few fights scheduled for 6 rounds, but until Sunday they all ended in 4 or less, plus he's been fighting 3 or 4 round fights pretty much from age 15 through to 27 as an amateur. As it was, Bryant looked the stronger in the last two rounds, and I think if it had been an 8 round fight he would have likely won it. Still, good to see Robbie stepping up to a higher level of opposition, now it would be good to see him fighting every 2 months and going over east. While winning the fight would have done him more good, I don't think this loss will have done his career any harm.

I just checked the BoxRec rankings. Interestingly, after the narrow SD loss, Bryant's ranking has risen from #207 to #180, and LoPorto's has dropped from #89 to #101.

How good would an 8 round rematch over east be?!

I think it sounds good to most people. The question is whether Robbie will venture East?

robbie was always extremely fit even as an amateur so i dont think fitness would have ever been an issue

True, I just wondered whether his conditioning was too geared to shorter fights, he was very arm weary in the 4th rounds of his fights against Tongia and Seran. Against LoPorto he seemed to pace himself a bit better, although if he had gone a little harder in rounds 2-4 he probably would have got the decision.

I spoke with Robbie yesterday, he's clearly disappointed with the result, he thought he had done enough to win. Apparently when he spoke with LoPorto and his trainer after the fight, they both told Bryant that they thought he had won. I'm interested how anyone scored it; I had LoPorto taking rounds 1, 3 and 4, Bryant taking rounds 2, 5 and 6, so 57-56 to Robbie with the knockdown. Rounds 2 and 3 were both hard to score, round 4 close but clear, and rounds 1, 5 and 6 were no brainers.

Robbie Bryant (7-1-1, improves to 8-1-1) beat Jurland Ceniza (7-18-1, falls to 7-19-1) by a unanimous decision last night, 60-53 on all the judges cards. I haven't spoken to Robbie for a while (been lazy and not going to the gym), but I assume that this was just a keep busy, confidence booster fight.

If anyone was at the fight I would be interested in hearing what it was like (I KNOW you were the, Ben!)

Yeah mate i was there

Robbie looked impressive, He used his jab well in this fight, He also switched from body to head well and threw a fair few combo's. He dropped Ceniza right on the bell in the 4th.

The fight was action packed, As all of Robbies fights are. Jurland lost every round but still put up a brave effort.
