Ian,
Sorry mate getting confused here - Having hold of the EU title basically means f*ck all other than a ranking in Europes top 20 - its for those fighters outside of the top 10 in Europe - if you are in the top ten you can fight for the main EBU title - or do I have this wrong.
I am a big supporter of Ryan Rhodes and when the pull out of the Small fight came about it did not surprise me at all - I feel Rhodes is worthy of a European Title shot - you will note I have not stated an EU title shot!!! - if Europe was the route Team Rhodes wanted to go to force a World Title shot then I am afraid the only way to that would have been a
proper tilt at the
proper European title - may I remind all of you how long even if you are a European Title holder how long it takes to get hold of a world title shot - Howard Eastman springs to mind - look how long Jamie Moore has waited around etc etc
The only reason I can see for getting this EU title is to perhaps persuade Jamie Moores handlers - a fighter between the EBU and EU title holders is worthy!!! - I feel I am clutching at straws there.
Sorry - I simply do not see the sense behind this EU Title route at all.
Again - If its Europe then go directly at Jamie Moores title by lobbying them dodgy so and so's at the EBU that Rhodes is worthy of a shot at Jamie Moore.
I feel Hayemaker have made a cock up in my view - unless of course they have something else up their sleeves!!!
Another note - surely if you are manoeuvering your fighter into a possible world title shot you need to get all of the ring rust out of the way and have him in with relative quality opposition - not some clown we have never heard of !!!
Beagleboys - just the way I see it mate!!!
