Any British Fans Supporting Pacquio?

Post by dbf »

I started a similar thread 18 months ago about British fans who would be supporting Floyd against Ricky.

This topic is not intended to anger fans, but simply see who are Manny P’s British followers and hopes he will win.

Its nothing against Ricky, I am just not a fan, I think his style post Tszyu has been difficult to watch and have followed Manny P since seeing him on the Tyson Lewis undercard.

I will be interested to see if I get some similar responses to last time, whereby posters thought it was a crime to not support a Brit in such a big event.

I'll be supporting Manny as he is probably my favourite fighter at the moment.

Good man. Its not as if I want or would be happy to see Ricky to lose, its just I’m a huge Manny P fan.

I've always been a big fan of the Pacman.

Plus i would rather see Mayweather vs Pacman than Hatton vs Mayweather !

Wow, this is a stark contrast to the thread about Mayweather Hatton. I think only a handful of brits admitted to rooting for lil floyd. I wonder why this is?

Because Floyd's a tool and Manny is a class act outside the ring as well as in it. That said i'm hoping Hatton wins.

Makes sense, and I agree. Floyd’s antics in the lead up to that fight clearly left an impression on the fans. Whereas with Manny being a ‘nice guy’, it doesn’t seem so bad that Brit fight fans are getting behind him.

I will be following Pac!

I followed Floyd too!!

My reasons for this are simple, i appreciate boxing and in my opinion they are better than Ricky!!

That said i have been to watch Ricky a good few times and don't dislike him just think the 2 above are better

i did a poll about this a few weeks back, i was surprised to see that nearly 40% of brits actually want pacman to win ahead of hatton.

I wouldn't be in the slightest bit disappointed if Pacquiao won. He's electrifying in the ring and likeable and down to earth outside it -- how could one be disappointed if a guy like that does well?

Pacquaio is the Duran of our times, and I think we should count ourselves lucky that we are living through his era.

That said, I've watched Ricky from the start, so of course I have some feeling of connection there. I also hope he doesn't go down as being dominant right up through world class level, but not quite being able to dip his toes in genuine elite waters. A Hatton win would one in the eye for the revisionist historians who have claimed Tszyu was 'past it' when he fought Hatton.

So, to ignore my verbosity for a moment, and provide and answer which values brevity ahead of detail, what-what: I don't care who wins, but I am so excited about this superfight that I've had an erection for literally eight days already.

It's a tough one for me, i'm a manc and ive followed Hatton from the start, but Manny is my favourite fighter and i like the way he carries himself outside of the ring, got to admit that Ricky's constant talking in the third person is starting to get on my tits a bit. What is it about a lot of fighters, they get to a certain level and then out of nowhere they start with this nonsense. :shame:

I think it's because Hatton lost alot of respect from the British fans when he refused to fight Junior Witter, it's also because PBF is a Bell End and Pacman is a top bloke

Yeah I'll be rooting for PacMan too, not just because you have to admire the man, but because I've seriously gone off hatton and his carefully managed schtick over the years.

Does Hatton’s loss contribute to this aswell? Now he’s lost, its OK to support an opponent? Also has the fact that both him and Manny have been knocked out mean that this event isn’t as huge as the Mayeather fight? Does the credit crunch come into it? It just feels that there is not as much press about this as with ‘undefeated’.

Manny from a boxing perspective. It will then set up a potential dream match with Marquez or Mayweather.

Split down the middle to be honest, dont want to see either lose, but if I had the choice I would chose Manny to win

I hope Hatton can win this one, Pacquaio is one of my favourite boxers but he ain't British. A Ricky Hatton win is good for British boxing so I'll be hoping Hatton can pull it off.

dont mind ricky being from same town im just bored and sick of the sight of him like most people in mcr, but pacquio is a great fighter and will stop hatton early, and lets drop this p4p title cos if hatton wins he isnt the p4p. who ever started this off that hatton will be p4p king wants slapping.
