I am Irish and I will be strongly rooting for Pacman. Hatton has been going on about this fight making him the best pound for pound (ridiculous) and we already know how much he continually talks about the Tzyu fight and I do not want to spend the rest of my life constantly hearing this pound for pound sh*te and for that reason (and a million others), I will, as ever, be rooting for him to get BRUTALLY knocked out and perhaps leave the ring in a stretcher (if I'm lucky).

I'm happy for both men to win, I love Pacman, I think he is a fantastic ambassador for boxing. A polite, hard working, affable man outside the ring, and an absolute demon inside it.

His ascent through the weights hasn't been seen since Tommy Hearns went from Welter to Cruiser - and is nothing short of phenomenal.

If Pacman wins, we get to see him against Mayweather, in what could be an absolute classic, and for that reason, I guess I would slightly prefer it if Manny won.

I've got this slightly embarrassing patriotic streak that clouds my objectivity sometimes. I would be cheering for Ricky, but in a rather more cultured, suave way than his northern football fan club. I'll be quietly pleading "come along now Ricky" not screaming "caaaam oonnnn Rickaaayyyy!!!! Having said that, how can a true boxing fan not love Pacquiao? I will be in awe of him if he wins this because he is up against it. I am completely discounting the Pacman-DLH fight - it's a red herring - it sheds no light at all on how Pac will fare against a talented bigger man. If that fight had never happened (which it hasn't), how many people would still be picking Pac to beat Hatton?

My thoughts exactly, DLH was done, over, finished. Pacman has only had one fight above 130 against someone who was actually there to fight back, and that was against Diaz, who it took him a long time to finish off. Hatton would have easily done the same to Diaz I'm sure, and probably better.

I still think Pacquaio wins because I think he is that bit more special enough to overcome the differential physically.

Big fan of Ricky's but don't like the way he's stayed quiet while Floyd Mayweather Snr has continuously denigrated Billy Graham.
Manny is great but the real reason I want to see him best the Hitman is I just can't stand the arrogance and delusions of grandeur of Mayweather Snr. For me he's the biggest piece of sh#t in the game and I like seeing the sneer wiped off his face.

I started a similar thread 18 months ago about British fans who would be supporting Floyd against Ricky.

This topic is not intended to anger fans, but simply see who are Manny P’s British followers and hopes he will win.

Its nothing against Ricky, I am just not a fan, I think his style post Tszyu has been difficult to watch and have followed Manny P since seeing him on the Tyson Lewis undercard.

I will be interested to see if I get some similar responses to last time, whereby posters thought it was a crime to not support a Brit in such a big event.

I would love to see Ricky win this fight - I dont think he will ever be capable of beating PBF - styles make fights and all that!!!

But against Pacman it would be fantastic not only for Hatton but British Boxing if he does get a win!!1

If not - my feeling is Ricky will retire.

Yeah agreed, the Mayweather Snr thing doesn't sit right with me either, short-lived I feel and very possibly 48 hours or so short-lived.

Who do I want to win? I mean really want to win? I htink it's still Hatton, the patriot in me makes me want to cheer on a Brit because ultimately I think it's probably best for the future of the sport over here. If Hatton stays (or proves himself depending on where you sit) elite what with Haye, Froch and those Olympians coming through we are hopefully set for a good few years yet.

So I do want Hatton to win but I don't think I'll be up off my seat leaping around like in the days of Lennox, Naz or even Ricky against Tszyu and even Manny does prevail then I'll be smiling at seeing a boxing legend write another chapter.

I don't think there's anyone who doesn't like Pacquiao, regardless of where they're from. He's always been great, in and out of the ring. I'll still be pulling for Hatton on Saturday though.

I would like to see Hatton win this, but drop the P4P claims. On the other hand Pac seems a nice guy and a consistently good fighter. Not massively keen on either man style-wise, so I will sit back and enjoy.

My girlfriend has different thoughts, "Manny has got Mark Wahlberg AND Christian Bale on his side, he loves his mum (who looked a little pissed on 24/7 the other night), he is exciting to watch and he is good to his wife. Manny by TKO before 5, it will be like watching Bruce Lee beating up Les Battersby."

I hope she is wrong, she is giving me a kicking on big fight predictions, although picks like, "Jermain Taylor has a stutter? Froch will batter him!" are not quite as scientific as they could be.

I want Pacman to win only because of the potential PBF match up which would be mouth watering. PBF has always had such a speed advantage over his opponents but this will be neglible - if not noneistant- against Pacman so it would be interesting to see how he'd work it out

But to be honest I would be happy if somone falls ove and doent get up before the 11th round

Hatton won't be given a licence to wrestle like he did against Tsyzu, where he got away with murder.

Saying that though, I see this fight as a 50-50 fight.

this is a good point IMO. Floyd sr never struck me as a calming voice- say if Hatton gets cut early- to get a fighter through tough periods

I think your missing the point. Farnell and Moore never had build ups showing them out on the razzle and being 3 stone overweight. Ricky has milked that one so long its become like a broken record. Ricky keeps on reminding us that he's just a normal bloke and one of the lads. Fair enough but we get it already and him continuously necking pints of Guinness while out on the piss with his mates, TV cameras conveniently in tow, is old hat.
Maybe he's just become a bit overexposed but I agree with the initial sentiment. I mean before he started with Mayweather Snr , Billy Graham was the greatest trainer ever and his best mate. For every fight he was in 'the best shape of my life' and when things didn't go to plan it was due to a cold or some other bollox. I know most fighters do and say the same shit but Ricky portrays himself to be more honest than that and a break from the norm. But he just completely went down in my estimation not by leaving Graham per say but in the way he makes little digs at how he used to train and how things are so much better now. But the biggest gripe, as previously mentioned, is his refusal to defend his old trainer while his new one completely disparages everything about the Preacher.


PS: Hatton didn't grow up on no council estate. Thats a complete myth. His dad had money long before his son became a superstar.
