Clearing out a divison or moving up the divisons
Morales has just won his forth world title in 3 weight divisons while Bernard Hopkins has ruled his division for a decade taking on all comers Just wondering if any of you guys have any views on this. I think that Hopkins stayed at middle because Super Middle is a shit divison. Its even worse now. I think that there was a marquee fight he would moved up.

I think you are right, also he is comfortable at that weight, why should he have to move up. Did Hagler or Monzon move up? Often moving up the weights is a sign the fighter cannot hack training to make weight, much the case with Duran beyond welterweight, he was just cutting corners, but was still a hell of a fighter.
While Morales moving up to beat two champions at 130 is a great accomplishment it's not been so great for the fans. I'd have taken Pac & Marquez over Chavez & Hernandez any day.
Also unless the 126 elite follow him up who is he going to fight? Freitas aint coming back down and I'll be surprised if Corrales does.

It's obvious he must be looking for mayweather, trouble is mayweather has already moved on up, who is he after at lightweight then. Why not just wait around and take on Corrales and Freitas? Seems like he wants to get those belts around his waist, rather than take on the very best. Mayweather could get beaten though at light welter, just because he's beaten one former champ, everyone is talking about him as if he's already won the belts. Strange as it may sound, i give Gatti a good chance of beating Mayweather, his power is very good at the weight, and Mayweather isn't a big hitter. He's beaten the second tier fighters in the division so far, time will tell.
