dear buzz, please go back to a post of mine on page 34 of this thread if you wish to see a bout between fictional fighters.
something like this
popeye having just destroyed bluto in 3 ruff house rounds - there is a link to a recording of that fight - earns a tilt at dreadrick tatum. (tatum ended homer simpsons winning streak with a vicious right hand that sent the springfield fatman into orbit). for the result of their tussle - page 34

halme wins on a disqualification. clarke clearly attempts to tie tony's laces together in a quiet 6th round.

burger wins on a disqualification. his opponent comes out for the 10th with a strange shaped headguard. halfway through the round the referee notices this and stops the fight. wilhelm loses the fight but earns a fortune in the next few years selling his famous headgear - now known as the HOMBURG - to millions around the world.

That is ridiculous greb! Both fights end via DQ? And they both weren't even possible of happening in real life. Surely someone would notice a man walking into the ring with head gear, and how the fornicate could a man tie shoe laces together when he's wearing gloves? Bad joke, but whatever. Clark's win streak ends on bogus circumstances, and 'Vigo The Carpathian' (Homburg) loses to the Hamburger.

This really could go either way. Both are huge punchers with questionable chins. I think the cagey Satterfield might sucker Haye into his big right hand and KO him - though if Haye can avoid or survive that shot, his quicker, more precise combinations would eventually see him through.

Next up: "Mexico vs. Australia, Featherweight Showdown"

Barrera loses a split decision to Fenech, Morales UD Famechon...Then its Morales-Fenech, which becomes a total war for 10 rounds, before Fenech scores a kayo in the 11th round!

John by narrow decision, hanging on for dear life by fight's end.

Cotto vs. Castillo. Castillo moves up to Jr. Welter at the height of his career, & faces the 140lb. version of Cotto in this mythical scenario.

Peak for peak ?

Toney out slicks a fast and fit Mundine, who looks good, but
seems to strugle with the accurate and active counters coming
at him from Toney.

Toney wobbles Mundine with a hard right hand to the temple,
but never is able to put him away.

A fun fight to watch, with the judges awarding it to Toney after
some close rounds.

Fight becomes a No-Contest after the judges commit suicide halfway through.

However, Seldon boxes well and gets the better of the fight, given that he doesn't have to be worried as hell about his chin.

I have about 10 fights of each guy...more of Seldon.

Pernell UD 12 in an unusually exciting fight where Pernell is able to (barely) stay a step ahead for the most part, but Laguna is consisently threatening enough to keep Pernell fans glued to their fears for the entire fight. The score a bit lopsided for Pernell does not tell the story of the intensity of both mens myriad of "great escapes" during the fight. And Laguna even after the defeat walks away imagining that he was "The Boss" in this encounter....as well as do many of the fans. They all imagine to themselves...would 15 rounds have made a difference? (It wouldnt' have.).

Here's a real chess match....

Pernell Whitaker vs Nicollino Loche Light Welter.

Has Compubox ever had a fight where the punchstats were 0 to 0? Could this one end up that way?

PBF takes a comfortable decision. He dominates the middle rounds with counterpunching, and coasts home in a pretty uneventful affair.

hang on guys. homicide, homburg did not walk to the ring with the headgear on his head. the hat was produced after the 1st round from a bag carried to the ring by his trainer, wolf klingendanger. prior to his involvement in the boxing game klingendanger made quite a name for himself around Vienna as a magician and occasionally fell into the habit of entertaining ringsiders with conjuring tricks during tedious moments in homburgs early career. in the match against burger wolf was wearing the hat as homburg came back to the corner at the end of the 1st and he asked if he could try it on, the guy liked it so much he wore it for the next round and didnt take it off until disqualified by the ref who rather belatedly copped the offending chapeau.
how clark managed to tie halmes laces together i'll never know but perhaps it is one of those mysteries that boxing throws up every once in a while.

robinson overwhelms diaz in a thriller. diaz is cut on the bridge of the nose in the fourth while shading the fight. ivan comes on strong from then on and after getting warned for a low blow in the 9th goes on to win the fight in the 10th via stoppage.

Mesi remains undefeated, but no one knows why since only the judges were watching at the time. And even they stepped out for a few moments to grab a bite to return at the bell sounding the end of the 12th and final round. Since the HBO analysts were hooping it up for Mesi the judges decided that he must have won and awarded him the fight.

Give me a moment for my next hypothetical.

Old School......15 rounds.

Ok the Popeye vs Blutto days were highly educational! See what a good trainer/nutritionist can do? (In that case Olive Oil)

old school it certainly is! mamby enters the ring in great condition but he is clearly around 67 years old. cervantes thinks he has got an easy night - how wrong he is!
saoul gets off to a slow start and loses the first 3 rounds, cervantes starts to get a little casual and in the 5th drops his hands for a moment and suddenly sees little birds twittering in circles in front of his eyes to a tune not dissimilar to the ones heard on ice cream vans. tony never even saw the crunching right hand that sent him to sleep and when he came round said in his broken english "they are taking a long time getting the president here, wheres the sandwiches?"

heavyweight clash
terry daniels v marvis frazier

undercard - the return (although somehow mamby is much younger than he was in the first fight)

antonio cervantes v saoul mamby (aged 28)

First round KO for Marvis, highly controversial though. The apparent reason for this is that Marvis's dad was sitting in the front row scowling at Terry during the introductions. After the cornermen cleans up the mess in Daniels corner, Daniels comes out a bit shakey and petrified by Joe's continued staring and is wide open for the first shot out of the cannon from Marvis. Terry decides it's good diplomacy to honor Marvis's dad's bad mood by not appearing to wake up until AFTER they carry him out of the ring.

Once again... I may need a moment to determine the next great matchup.

Another Junior Welterweight matchup.

Aaron Pryor WITH the blue bottle.

vs

Floyd Mayweather.

This is just my way of saying, after all is said and done, I do like Aaron and there are some people I would like to see him use his "blue bottle offense" on.
