Mike Marley refused press pass for Hatton fight.

Post by Wake up call »

I just saw America's biggest boxing buffoon Mike Marley mouthing off on the Boxing hour about not getting a press pass for the Hatton - Pacquaio fight.

So what? Plenty of journalists will get knocked back for a show of this size. What makes Marley and his crappy website that nobody reads so important?

I understand that he's been around the game for a long time and written from various large American papers in the past but time in the sport does not give you previledges.

Mike Marley's words are often spiteful and do nothing to promote the sport or the fighters. When he goes around slagging off all the people that have the balls to step into the ring what does he expect? The five star treatment? Get lost.

When he writes something constructive instead of gossip, slander and nonsense about people then folk like the Hattons and Goldenboy might give him respect. The guy is a dinosaur.

Journalists like this piss me off. People like Marley and Jim Bagg, who writes in Ring Magazine, seem to be under the deluded impression that they are more important than the fighters and promoters. They are not. Anyone who sits behind a keyboard writing nonsense is nothing more than a keyboard warrior.

All you need to know about Mike Marley is that he worked for Don King, and was the only journalist in attendance who agreed that Mike Tyson should have remained champion, in spite of being knocked out by Buster Douglas.

A thinly veiled version of Marley was played by Jeff Goldblum in a film called 'The Great White Hype'.

He's a prick.

If you're...

1. Old
2. American
3. Fat
4. Annoying

You're instantly deemed some kind of 'legend' or 'character' in boxing - a sport run by many men fitting the above criteria. In truth, Marley's just an asshole who needs to get a proper job.

I don't know Mike Marley and much of what I've heard is not good. However, those refused press passes for fights are those who usually say it as it is.

ricky hatton!

censoring the press!

refusing freedom of speech!

villain!

on the other hand, marley comes across as a reet twat, often attacking and ridiculing british fighters.

also, doesn't marley's site have something to do with the old pacland website?

I've chatted with Colin a few times and you couldn't meet a greater guy and a greater pro.

Wally Bartleman was the only British journalist to pick Ali to beat George Foreman and Colin was the only British journalist to pick Michael Watson to beat Nigel Benn.
Colin even picked the right round.

There is one exception to the above rule - Bert SUgar.

True he is: old, American and annoying.....but unfortunately not fat.

I hate the way he comments on old fights smoking his f-ckin cigars, like he's some wise old sage...and giving his severely over rated opinions like they're the words of Jesus Christ.

I can't stand him
