Could it now be Hatton v Witter in October????

Post by buzz »

1 - Harris pulls out

2 - No American tv

3 - No big American names available

4 - Big fight needed

5 - Witter available (probably)

Ya never know, unless David is right with N'dou.

Warren will never use Witter. A sleeper is Italy's Gianluca Branco.

Too much risk and downside for hatton when on the verge of the "megafights" as, if and when (take your pick I dunno anymore) they happen.

One question: why does Hatton only have an alphabet-soup-title?

I've said elswhere that I believe Branco is a 50-50 fight for Hatton. Along with N'Dou, Augustus and Urkal.

One way Hatton will get the big fights is if he travels to the champions' backyards to fight them. how come that option has never been mentioned?

Not a chance, Hatton on the verge of "big fights". Too much of a risk, or a cash risk, whatever you want to call it.

This is a bloody joke.

Why is Harris bothered about what Hatton is getting paid. If Harris is getting $750,000 he should be doing somersaults regardless of whether Hatton is getting $5 or $5million.

Some of these fighters just dont kmow a good thing.

The guy sounds like a mug.

I can totally understand. Christ, Bernard Hopkins turned down much bigger purses when he saw how much the opponent was getting. Why should Ricky be getting so much more, presuming that was the case, which we don't know for a fact.

Yeah but it doesn't look like he'll finish up with anything like 750k. He could easily get shafted in Manchester, and for relative chump change.

The guy must be seething.

Vivian Harris is not, and never will be as well known as Bernard Hopkins.

Ricky Hatton is the draw, thats why he is getting more.

Harris will never, I repeat, never earn $750, for any other fight.

He will regret turning the fight down.

They should line up Naz, he'd only have to shed about 30lbs to make light welter.

Why don't they bring over Oktay Urkal? He gave Harris a good fight and if Hatton could do a number on him it would make him look very good indeed.
It's also a proper fight for Ricky.

They got excited when they fought a guy, Kripapalov (sp) who went 12 rounds with Urkal.

Again, they obviously want a name fighter the US will know.

I still think N'Dou

Ricky must be well pissed off at the moment - will such activities affect him in his next contest - maybe.

N'dou or Michael Stewart will be my guesses. Apparently Stewart's profile has increased following his brave (but one-sided) loss to Mitchell. Stewart has shown he is prepared to travel, has called out Hatton in the past and has fought on a sports network bill.

I agree with whoever said Spadafora, Warren has always made it clear he preferred Spadafora and in his haste to talk up Harris to the casual viewer he probably dropped a bollock. He said in his News Of The World column that Harris was a slight favourite and very dangerous for Hatton and he always wanted Spadafora instead, these comments seem to have backfired and many now perceive him to be the reason Harris-Hatton folded.

Harris scared to fight Ricky? :o
I Think NOT!
Harris put this fight on the table when he won the title almost two years ago. 8)
Hatton & Co. have ignored it (As well as fights with other champs & contenders.)
until being forced to by the media recently.
Anybody who has watched the two fighters can see Hatton’s wide open defense is tailor made for Harris.
Do U think Harris is gona back off like McGee did after he knocks him on his ass?

Hatton does NOT bring more to the table. :o
He is ONLY better known and more popular fighter in England where Wankie has control over the press.
http://sport.guardian.co.uk/boxing/stor ... 46,00.html
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/boxing/3529788.stm

Harris holds the oldest world body title which is the WBA. All the other world bodies were spawned from it.
TO say Hatton deserves to get paid more, and Harris should be happy he's even getting $750,000 while Hatton gets $1,000,000 is to insult the whole purpose of fighting for a title.
Notice, nobody’s mentioned Hatton’s title which is not worth the paper it’s printed on.
But then, fast Wankie has used this very paper title to con the Britt’s into thinking Hatton’s more than he is…
Wankie has ignored the old adage…U work your ass off and beat top names to get the title shot.
Once U win the title…THEN, U get the BIG share of the prize money, NOT before. :TU:

Wankie has to “get real” & see that not only is he not in charge, but everybody’s on to him.
Harris has only to wait till it goes to bids where Hatton will only get 25%.
But then that’s what Wankie wants so he can turn it down for “not enough money”.

While Hatton’s been doing “exhibitions” for his loyal Mancunians, the top fighters have been busy fighting each other. Why doesn’t he at least prove he’s the best in Europe by winning the EBU title? They don’t even have the guts to fight for the British or Commonwealth Title. (They know Witter beats his ass too!)

So the Hatton & Calzaghe side show rolls on, singing the same old song…
“We are the champions, my friend, and we’ll keep on fighting till the end,
we are the champions,
we are the champions,
no time for losers, cuz we are the champions…;
Of the world!”Image

Meanwhile, on it goes, spinning its wheels, moving no further than they were two years ago…

Agreed, im of the belief that Vivian could lay a beating on Ricky. The guys so big and powerful, he almost always at least knocks his opponents down once in his fights and is particulary dangerous early on. Rickys gonna walk right too him and is gonna be in a whole world of hurt. He had to chase the slick Urkal and knocked him down with a big right hand, Urkal has a very good chin and Kostya Tszyu couldn't knock him down. Rickys been hurt against against Eamonn Magee and 40 year old Vince Phillips hurt him with an uppercut. Im convinced Harris will win, I also think he's a lot more hungry for it than Ricky whose having things handed to him and picks and chooses his opponents while getting paid good money.
