Surely Hatton has to walk away now?

Post by Loftgroov »

No… not because Warren has on this occasion screwed up. I don’t believe he has. But what is clear is that Warren doesn’t seem to have the clout required to attract the bigger names over to the UK to fight. If everything we are told is true on this occasion, then Warren has made a decent offer, but the fight has fallen through regardless. Is this just a problem with Vivian Harris...or have we been here before with other fighters, and other matchups? Hatton needs to walk away from Warren.

The same thing is happening with Tarver & Calzaghe, with Tarver claiming it would have to be an offer too good to refuse for him to even “consider” fighting Calzaghe. The reason is obviously because he is “Joe Who?” in the US, and PPV sales would be far higher against other (US) opposition.

It’s clear that mandatory defences, and world ranking positions are quickly being rendered meaningless, if they aren’t already. It’s PPV sales that count, and ‘Ricky Who’ and ‘Joe Who’ from the UK are not going to get the PPV sales in the US by remaining outside of the US.

Money talks. Calzaghe & Hatton need to leave Warren and base themselves in the US. They will never get the big fights they wish for by insisting on remaining in the UK, and praying Warren can “do a deal”….

How much more time do these two want to waste? A promoter either delivers or he doesn't, and whether or not it's his FAULT or not doesn't matter at the end of the day.

Pick up the phone and call a big US promoter… If this doesn’t happen, I am seriously going to call into question the ambition of both Hatton & Calzaghe.

Have to agree there. Calzaghe is really going nowhere, and the same for Hatton. They would both be worthy names for a top promoter to sign. Calzaghe's Italian good looks and Hatton's fearsome face/all-action style would be good TV in the USA. And, of course, they'd get the big fights they so desperately crave.

I think your absolutely right.

Also from what I read Harris doesnt want to come to the UK to fight Hatton, so make the fight in the US or is this something Warren just cant organize, I mean Harris is the champion and if he wants the fight in the US he should get it.

As for Calzaghe I really dont care anymore, we wont see him in a mega fight, or even a fight where he has a real chance of losing. Leaving Warren might help but I cant see him doing it.

Hatton must leave, his man cannot deliver the big names so it's time to go to someone who can. Move to America if necessary, i have never been a big fan of the man Don King but he at least makes the big fights, give him a call Ricky. I am sure he will help launch the career of a guy like you! Americans love Arturo Gatti type guys.

Why did Harris give it the big one about coming over then? Why was he so vocal about smashing Hatton to bits? Maybe Manny has advised him against it as he is now managing him, that's my guess. Manny is misguided though, how does he manage to make Harris a draw?

No he won't walk away !

James Mcdonnell alrerady said Ghandi MIGHT be the next opponent and then after him may come Worzell Gummidge.

Career defining fights is what Hatton asked for and according to JM - he might just get them !
