Hatton doesn't need to box on. He has nothing left now. Theres nobody he has to fight, all he would be now is Amir Khans step up and im sure he wont want that.

For me Hatton will never be able to regain top spot in any division, and if you don't have much of a chance to be number one what's the point in boxing? If he needed money then fne, but he doesn't so he might as well retire. There are gonna be a whole host of opponants lining up for a payday and a chance to take his head off and a few of them have a more than good chance of doing it. It's time to call it a day. It's clear that he's not good enough to beat the very top guy's in the world.

Hatton was terrible last night, or maybe it was because Pacman was so damn good. He hit De La Hoya all night with those punches but could not drop him, he hit David Diaz with even more and it took 9 rounds before he dropped him.

Hatton went down from the first punch that landed clean. He had no punch resistance at all. Looked slow and weak in the fight. Time to give it up. He aint anywhere near the level of the real top boys.

I agree it seems Hatton's punch resistance has gone. The warning signs were there in the Lazcano fight. The Malignaggi fight perhaps flattered to decieve as Paulie, bless him, couldn't punch his way out of a wet paper bag. We have remember Hatton has had a lot of fights(47) and with the aggressive style he has and the lifestyle he has, he was always going to have a short shelf-life. I just think the Hatton we saw in there was far from the best of Ricky and its time to call it a day. I still think the best of Ricky would have struggled vs Pacman but David Diaz, a very limited fighter took Pacquiao nine rounds - I feel Hatton at is best is a far superior fighter to Diaz.

I say retire, he has been treading water for a few years now, it was clear to see even in the Mayweather fight that his punch resistance was on the wane, Lazcano hurt him and now it has culminated in being exposed by the Pacman.

I don't think any of his family will want to see anymore of that, the warning signs have been there, this isn't like a sudden happening so in my opinion it's time to retire. Ricky doesn't owe anyone anything. He's lived the dream and many of us have lived it woith him, he fell short at the elite level but has done more for britsh boxing than anyone in the last 10 years and more.

Good post Cobra, I concur with everything you've just said. Ricky Hatton is a legend in his own right and it's been an amazing journey but in boxing terms, it's over.
It must be bloody hard for a famous boxer to shed thier athletic identity, but Ricky has got the money and the personality to successfully fill his time with other meaningful pursuits.

not sure about al this punch resistance bollox...I didn't get a good view of the 1st 2 KDs but that KO was as concussive as they come.
It would have straight KO'd 95% of fighters I think.
Point is he shouldn't have been in there with Pac in the 1st place but if he was going to be, he ought to have had his chin better protected.

That fight, as you know, was hot 6years ago. If Witter won TWO world titles he wouldn't get Hatton to fight him. And he wouldn't make much cash either. It would be an empty gesture trying to promote this now, cos they wouldn't get it on when they were both hot, and after last night, not to mention Witter's less than stellar performances, it could never have the same profile as it once could have had.

Witter Hatton showdown makes Froch Calzaghe look bloody signed and sealed.

For me its the end of the road for Ricky and I hope thats what he decides to do. He took the beating by Mayweather badly but that was at welter and he was still the number 1 at LWW. Having been beaten at LWW he is no longer top of that division which must be hurting him even more than the Mayweather defeat. Hatton has been number one for so long now I cant see him accepting any other ranking. Pacman destroyed him in less than two rounds making him look almost amateur so a rematch would be totally out of the question. While Hatton is very good he isnt among the elite and he now knows that, its been proven. I cant see him piss balling around with the likes of Khan or Witter, he has too much pride for that. A loss against either of them would destroy him mentally I would have thought. He wont want to believe they are in his class and certainly wouldnt give them a chance to prove otherwise. When I said on here in the run up to fighting PBF, Hatton would have no real gameplan, just fight the way he always does, somebody had a go at me, but you have seen for yourselves Hatton fights everyone the same way. Even after being floored twice last night in the first, he still came out in the second and fought the same way. I dont want to see him injured for life and I hope his family and friends urge him to retire. He has given us great entertainment and had a wonderful career so I dont want to see him carry on and be humiliated. I wish he had fought Witter when Witter was WBC champ but apart from that I think he faced all the big challenges and did as well as he could. He would be great as a TV co commentator with his great knowledge of tha game and has the money to be a promoter so he has potentially a very busy and successful life ahead of him.

With his drinking etc the ring might be the safest place for him, and it is very dangerous in the ring for him now.

Anyone who can put 3 stone on in 8 weeks with drinking bad living etc has a problem if they do not change.

What will he weigh in 5 years?

I also think mentally he is not strong, he actually cried like a woman (his words) for weeks after PBF.

He has no 'weight' 'ref' excuses after last night - plus he knows Superfeathers ( Barrera -JMM) and lightweights ( Diaz) have taken Pac the distance and into the 10th 11th. Hatton barely made it out of the 1st round.

There is no shame in being beaten only twice by two elite fighters in 47 fights but you need to look at all the circumstances not just the fight stats.

Ricky should retire, what a fantastic career he has had. No man can argue he gave it his best shot. Walk away from the game a healthy and rich man. Enjoy life. A fan of Ricky since the amateurs.

He is not a force. He has only fought lightwwights and /or limited fighters or feather fisted fighters.

He should retire due to being knocked out cold and stopped in his only 2 ventures outside of his comfort zone since KT.

Watch the fight again mate. I don`t think the lack of punch resistance is as much bollox as you think.

In the first round he was wobbled a few times and put down twice (the second time from no clean punches either)

David Diaz ate worse than that first round all night. Look at the stick Hatton took from Mayweather before finally going down. Maybe it was just the speed of Manny, but Hatton looked spent in there and fragile as hell. Manny is not really known as a HUGE puncher, he is accurate and fast and breaks people down. What he did to Hatton was scary.
