World Title Trivia

Post by Ric »

What future world champion appeared on the under-card of a bout featuring two world champions fighting for a title, and later went on to beat those two principals himself? What was the date of this card? ( :shame: Editors can't play, sorry.)

Gene Tunney appeared on the undercard of the Jack Dempsey-Georges Carpentier world heavcyweight title match on July 2, 1921 at Boyle's 30 acres, New Jersey.

You are forgiven as I know you are not a stickler for detail. Unlike me.

Correct. Big Frank and Sooty. The other one is the man who fixed it (hint, hint).

Plus Sooty might be getting out soon. Apparently he is no longer a threat to women. Excuse me while I throw up.

The great Jimmy Saville in the middle (a British DJ and TV host).

PS: Is that really the Yorkshire Ripper?

Good knowledge, Collins. Incredibly, The Ring Record Book (yes, I had a little look) has Arguello winning his first fight by knockout, which shows you how bad that record book became.

Yep, it's Jimmy Saville.

Apparently it is Sutcliffe................ if you can believe The Sun.
