This is not good news for all boxing fans.

I had a feeling they were in trouble when they asked to renegotiate the TV contract with the Scottish Premier League.

Definitely bad news for boxing. I doubt Sky will pick up the slack, so we could be seeing a lot less boxing on tv.

Bad bad news, hopefully they can get themselves out of this, Setanta are the only station who gives a toss about boxing. If they go back to the dark ages of F All rit coverage of big fights and streaming if your lucky

setanta have been good for boxing but boxing fans have also been good for setanta - the calzaghe and hatton roadshows brought in a lot of subscribers at comparatively little cost. And buncey, like him or love him, is clearly a great lobbyist for boxing at the channel. I'll be sad if they go, though I'm not sure, pound for pound, I watch the channel that much for my £12.99 a month.

Could be a coincidence, but the only two newspapers running this story were the Telegraph and The Guardian. And guess who owns them:

The Aussie Fwank Warren.

Sky must be getting desperate.

I am sure Setanta will find the backing.

I can't see Buncey on Sky. Can you imagine him towing the line and only talking about fights that were on Sky? Can you imagine him peddling the Sky propoganda?

Hopefully boxing on Setanta doesn't suffer - In contrast to the articles in the Telegraph / Guardian I actually heard on talkSPORT that Setanta looked as if they had overcome their difficulties :-?

It was in the Mail of Sunday too.

Buncey should go on Dragons Den, looking for a huge investment for Buncey's boxing channel. I'd pay a fiver a month for one :TU:

Klitschko - Haye coming to Sky Box Office for £14.63, then....

Possibly more if there's no longer any competition in terms of boxing on TV. It would be the perfect time to raise box office prices!

If we're really lucky, he go back to the national's and we won't have to listen to him anymore. Thank god for the mute button. Absolutely the most annoying person of anyone on Sky or Setanta. He's ok early door then rips into American broadcasters who are far better at there job than him comes out with absurd analogy's etc. I never listen to him on the late night shows from around the world. I appreciate he has a bit of personality but find him extremely annoying.

Eeerrrr... are you sure??

I thought that the Telegraph was, until recently, owned by right-wing nut and criminal Conrad Black and is now owned by the Barclay brothers.

Also, I thought the Guardian was independent? PArt of the same group that owns the OBserver and a few other things.

The Telegraph, being trenchently right wing is potential Murdoch fodder, but the Guardian's wooly jumper pinko stance is certainly not. Murdoch wouldn't touch that with a barge poll.

Murdoch owns only the Times and the Sun, as far as I know.

I have had a bit of a downer on Setanta lately but thats my own opinions and they were wrong!!!

On reflection - Setanta have been excellent for sport overall and absolutely brilliant for boxing!!

They provide a good service and excellent competition to Sky who have had a monopoly on sport in general for far too long!!

I sincerely hope investment is found because otherwise it spells big big trouble for boxing if not!!

I was hoping they would show Mayweather Vs Marquez considering they showed Marquez's last fight. I guess if they're struggling badly then the odds on getting that fight are dramatically reduced.

I'm hoping on that one too.

Can't believe they have Pavlik Vs Mora on the schedule. I know they have a deal with the promoter but I wouldn't mind them dumping that one and applying the funds elsewhere.

Surely it won't be on PPV because Khan's fight is a month earlier.

I have ate humble pie mate - as angry as I was concerning Setanta - there was no way a sports lunatic like myself was going to stay away for long!!

Setanta deserve our support and it was wrong of me to slate them so much - David Payne and a few others corrected me and rightly so I phoned up and renewed my subs!!

Ulitmately boxing needs Setanta in my view badly and as such they will get my support.
