Well done Colin Hart
I watched Hatton vs Pacman on sky box office and I thought Hart was great. Straight to the point and spoke honestly. The type of honesty you NEVER hear from a pundit on these shores. You don't become the number 1 boxing writer for the Sun by being crap! Well done Colin, I just hope Sky continue to use him, although I doubt it.

Colin Hart is a fool. Always was, always will be. The thing that pissed me off was after Hatton was knocked out he said that was no other boxer in Britain that has the ability to become a "marquee name".Scouse Fight Fan wrote:Dreadful choice to have on. As morose a person as I have ever seen on any panel. Johnnie Nelson looked like he wanted to spark him at one point when he was 'summarising'. Hope Sky don't use him again for another big fight night. Setanta must be laughing their cocks off. Steve Bunce v Colin Hart, only one winner every time.
Urghh!! What about David Haye or Carl Froch? Is it not possible that they may top a bill in Las Vegas one day in the future? Then in a few years time what about Frankie Gavin, Tyson Fury, Tony Jeffries etc...
I appreciate Colin may have been around in the Ali and Leonard days, but his "doom and gloom" and "things aren't as good as they use to be" attitude does my head in.
Colin, if British boxing is in such a poor state, go and find another sport to write shit about and leave boxing alone.
Colin Hart? Steve Bunce would wipe the floor with him every day of the week and he knows it.

The difference between Colin Hart and Bunce is that Colin Hart DOES NOT talk sh*te. Remember when Bunce was on BBC and started shouting about how Audley would be the heavyweight champion by the end of 2005. You won't hear Colin Hart saying that kind of thing. It's all honest and straight to the point. I would rather have that than have the usual pro british comments that are, in my opinion, insulting to the listener.

Re: Colin Hart on Sky
I agreed with most of what Colin Hart said but he went over the top sometimes but he was alrite
Re: Colin Hart on Sky
Hart is knowledgeable and knows the sport better than most and is willing to speak his mind BUT he lives in the past, he's one of these dinosaurs who can't accept the likes of Ali and Leonard are long gone. Move on Colin look to the future not the past.

Colin is a top bloke, but the "I told you so" and "speed kills" rants were little much, esp as Ricky was en route to a bran scanner at the time. As one mate put it to me, Colin seems offended to be there, like he's pissed off to have to talk about modern boxing. His whole attitude is "I'm bored. Where's Ali?"
But there was far worse over on Sky News, when they had some hack (no clue who he was other than they called him "Neil") in studio who was talking about someone call "Pack-Awww!" and how Pack-Awww was a big star in the "Far East".
The prick clearly knew he was getting the surname wrong so started calling him "Manny" as if they often shared a cab ride home and a German Shepherd kebab after a night on the town in Santos City.
It is pretty revolting really. Imagine if they had a hack on talking about "David Buck-erm" or "Arene Vinigar” for football.
I remember Sky News called reigning British Champion Julius Francis “an obscure opponent” for Tyson.

this is true though.Colin Hart is a fool. Always was, always will be. The thing that pissed me off was after Hatton was knocked out he said that was no other boxer in Britain that has the ability to become a "marquee name".
Haye will suffer the same fate against Wlad, Froch won't get past an A-level fighter....
What makes people in the UK think they have a right to top marquee fighters? No disgrace in that, but it is a hard reality for the rest of the world too.
By building boxers up to ridiculous levels, some people are constantly surprised when they fail against the real thing.
The only way to get to the top is to beat progressively harder fighters until you deserve to be there.
Haye wearing silly t-shirts and Hatton selling thousands of tickets for WBU fights doesn't mean crap when the fella in the other corner has done it the hard way.

Re: Colin Hart on Sky
i guess he means a real top level fighter, one who can operate among the best for a prolonged period of time, rather than one who can talk/con his way into a big title fight and then get smashed to fk.Ant Evans wrote:What is a "marquee name"? What the eff was that supposed to mean? If there was a fighter called Erol Flynn, would he have a marquee name? I've got a marquee in my garden... I can have about 20 mates rounds for a few beers when the weather is nice and I get the dogshit off the grass. I can't fit 9,000 Froch fans in there, must less the 55,000 who have already paid to see Haye, but they aren't Marquee names anyway, so I guess they will have to remain in indoor arenas and football stadiums.lowersmiths wrote:this is true though.Colin Hart is a fool. Re: Colin Hart on Sky
Colin Hart is one of those blokes who does know what he is talking about, but comes across as an arrogant arse whilst "preaching" to his congregation.
The sort of bloke who takes up too much space in a room and has to hold court rather than debate freely. He did at least have the balls to speak his mind though and in that respect he was a breath of fresh air. It`s that conceited, almost smary feel about him that I don`t really like.
It reminds me of Simon Cowell on X factor, as though he believes that his opinions carry more weight than the rest of the panel.

bottom line on hart is that yes he is doom & gloom & has an arrogance that suggest the sport doesnt get his juices flowing he should hand the wig to buncey
love to see buncey in harts wig
should leave it in his will 4 him, rather then place it on top of his urn

Re: Colin Hart on Sky
Never been a fan of Hart, on the rare occassion I've looked at his 3 paragraphs a month in the Sun it's hardly set the pulse racing journalism. He thinks he's on par with someone like Mclavaney (spelling) which he clearly isn't as he works for The Scum.
Massively overrated and in fact one of writers that led me to believe I could grow up to be a sports journalist when I was in my late teens if that was the best out there.

i think the business over here depends on making us believe in the impact that our fighters can make on the world scene. and then milking things as far as they can go when the fighters has the title, and - where possible - selling the champ as a PPV attraction.lowersmiths wrote:this is true though.Colin Hart is a fool. that way we are more likely to be interested in the "vacuum" fights where nothing really seems to be happening, no progress being made, no answers being forthcoming.
however i am more optimistic than you. we have had some excellent, and exciting results in the past 3 or 4 years. haye KO mormeck & macca, froch KO taylor, hatton stopping tszyu, calzaghe winning the 2 unification fights. when done right, these fights are also massive events
haye has a puncher's chance to be the top heavyweight, a massive accolade, though he's probably signed his life away to the klits, more businessmen than fighters

Re: Colin Hart on Sky
Quite surprised at the criticisms Hart has received.
Yeah okay he went over the top on occasions - but regardless of whether he was right or wrong his very presence on the programme has served up debate and news and thats good for boxing.

i thought he was brilliant. he gave his opinion, he said ricky won't win the fight due to speed of pac and basically pac being too good, and he was right. his summarising was spot on. i on the other hand was wrong. who did you pick? if you picked hatton, then you was wrong aswell.Scouse Fight Fan wrote:Dreadful choice to have on. Re: Colin Hart on Sky
tell me what colin hart did wrong? i'll tell you what he did wrong, he picked pac instead of hatton and then broke his reasoning down, which in the end turned out to be correct, that's what he did wrong. now you got to ask yourself why is that so wrong? well it's because some couldn't handle the truth.Autobarn wrote:thanks for that colinchamp4ever wrote:i thought he was brilliant. he gave his opinion, he said ricky won't win the fight due to speed of pac and basically pac being too good, and he was right. his summarising was spot on. i on the other hand was wrong. who did you pick? if you picked hatton, then you was wrong aswell.Scouse Fight Fan wrote:Dreadful choice to have on. I'm not a fan of Hart's but bottom line, he called the fight, the winner etc. He didn't play along with either the - Hatton wins or 50-50 fight which is expected of SKy pundits, Aled Jones is happy to play along.
