As a massive Hatton supporter, It was perhaps the worse defeat of any Brit in a high profile worldwide fight.

Jennings did better against Cotto it must be said.

It was such a pounding, that it was akin to the hiding that Arturo Gatti took off Floyd Mayweather.

Gatti went from being a contender in the mix at the top, to C-class in just one fight.

I felt from the magnitude of the loss on Saturday, that the same kind of effect on Ricky was inflicted.

Flexen the troll. Someone tell him to read the rules. Personally, his blatant trolling reminds me of The Yorkshire Ripper meeting Frank Bruno (with has-been Jimmy Saville in the middle).
You don't want to see it.

Are you jealous of Flexen? Is it because he works for Boxing News and you would like to?

 Quality

I apologise for my first post. This does deserve a thread of its own.

Did Frank beat the ripper? Did Jimmy promote any other fights?

Yes!

Everyone on this forum will have something to say about Ricky fornicating Hatton. But most people are modest enough not to start a brand new thread about it. :witzend:

New Topic should mean... "NEW TOPIC"

Relax, it's not a case of modesty. It's simply wanting your topic to stand out and, sorry to state the obvious, getting people to read your piece. If you want to merge this with another thread, go right ahead, my ego can handle it.

Fair enough... and honest answer.

But if EVERYONE did that then there would be about 200 new Hatton threads, each with 0 replies!

And the piece itself--

" somewhat odd as, like me [Flexen], he [Hatton] comes from a working class background and has remained humble."

Danny "humble" Flexen? Seems he is keen to talk about himself- including, for example, in that very sentence!

I'm only messing, Flexen seems like a decent guy.

Reagrding "hero" Hatton, and the "standard bearing over the last 5 years." I'm not sure how true that is. As a boxing fan, I've never warmed to him. He has gathered a "barmy army" of fans, but these seem more like fans of the man, not the sport. The fact that people like Peter Kay have enduring popularity just goes to show how meaningless it really is!

Ulysees, who works in the office, pointed out the same thing. I mean that Haton and I have both come from working-class backgrounds and that HE has stayed humble... blame my poor sentence construction which I'm sure Bennie will blame on the lack of subbing from his brother... maybe he's right, it does read like I'm a big head!

I love in that Sun article that there's a line that says, re the Ripper, "Bruno later had his own mental health problems, with cocaine abuse."

Because, obviously, taking coke is perfectly equitable with being a serial killer.

The Sun is an idiotic rag.

If you want to mix up that picture a little more - look up Paul Merton when Jimmy Saville was on Have I got News For You - clearly, in the industry, its well known Jimmy got a little too much of a thrill from his big chair and who it attracted.

Fkking weirdo.

EEeeeewwwww....

That's awful.

There have been rumours, but they don't bear thinking about. Too gross.

But he defended himself against those rumours robustly when Theroux did that Weird Weekend with him.

What about his mother's clothes, though. Now that was weird.
