Learning to box (Newbury area) ?

Post by Black Sam Bellamy »

I have just moved to Newbury, Berkshire and want to learn to box. Does anyone know where I can go ? I am 26 years old; am nearly 6ft and work out at the gym. I haven't boxed before - just want to do start off with some bag work and learn some moves for conditioning and for the love of it. All suggestions gratefully received.

I can't help you find an amateur club but that would be a good place to start, maybe the web.

Some leisure centres will run a boxercise class two, there you will get access to a bag plus there's normally fit women :TU:

there's also books you can get, the ABA (Amateur Boxing Association) Rules of the Game one cost me about a fiver only, and there are lots of techniques and that kind of thing.

Any cardio exercise is good, and if you drink or eat garbage from time to time, like we all do, you will find you are much better if you cut back a bit.

Have a look here and see if you can find a local club - http://www.abae.co.uk/Clubs/index.asp
