I agree the poster is an idiot. I think Hatton has proved he is not china chinned, ok he now looks short of elite level, but has been at the higher echelons of world class and I think we should look to honour his accomplishments rather than to degrade him at this point.
Hatton has been one of Britain's best fighters of the generation and has been a fine ambassador for the sport. People who look to ridicule him now for having the drive and ambition to go to America and fight the very best are just jealous folk who begrudge him the living he has earned.

Ricky Hatton has done a fantastic amount for British Boxing - its not been alarmist or knee jerk - I just think he should retire knowing that the only 2 boxers to beat him were indeed at the time the very best P4P fighters - no shame in that.

That knock out punch from Pacman cannot help but have an effect on Hatton - the one thing Khan has is speed - but a good Ricky Hatton would give Khan nightmares.

I dont want to see Hatton fight on - he has achieved a lot - but if he were to fight on - Khan v Hatton is the logical fight to make.

It would gross a lot of money in this country - perhaps the biggest ever!!!

Khan's stock has to rise a little after yesterday. If he's held his own with the man (who wrecked Hatton) in sparring, it makes things interesting.

I definitely think Khan's still being undersold right now.

Hatton should retire. That was a retirement punch. If he wasn't financially set I might understand a desire to continue, but Hatton's flush, I'd hate to see yesterday's fight be pointed at, as a precursor to a future injury that he isn't lucky enough to walk away from.

He's achieved a lot, perhaps unluckier with the draw than our other top guys, division wise. He's been in with a bad crowd and managed to beat one of it's very best. It kind of makes me wonder how things might have worked out for him if an old offer to fight Judah had gone forward.

As far as future match-ups go, I'd like to see Cotto vs Mayweather and Pacman vs Valero with the winners fighting (assuming Cotto beats Clottey and Mayweather beats JMM)... aint gonna happen, but that would give us some of the greatest match-ups in the sport today.

hatton would walk through khan.

Warrren might even have made the fight now that ricky was so brutally ko'ed. But Khan won't get past kotelnik, so under what guise the fight happens is anyones guess.

It wasn't two years ago that Khan was hurt by Gomez and Limond, and less than a year ago that he was destroyed (there's really no other word for it) by Prescott. His chin still has to be considered very suspect. Even taking into account that Khan will undoubtedly improve under the tutelage of Freddie Roach, and with age and experience in general, in theory you would still fancy Hatton to have too much for him at this stage. Khan would struggle to deal with his strength, aggression and relative smarts, and would get stopped.

The only way I could see Khan winning is if Hatton genuinely has gotten old over night, really can't take a shot any more, and ships too many on the way in, with the accumulation of punches taking there toll so that Hatton gets stopped himself. It all really depends on how much Hatton has left.

Although it's also worth adding that Roach seems quite confidant that Khan would have the beating of Hatton. Perhaps there's an element of Roach saying that just because Khan is his fighter, and he's hardly going to pick his own fighter to lose, but he also knows Hatton and Khan inside out for obvious reasons, and so his opinion isn't to be taken lightly.

It would be a huge and hugely intriguing domestic match-up if it happened.
Freddie Roach wrote:'I know Amir has the right style to beat Ricky Hatton, but I don’t want to see that fight happen. I like Ricky. It would be good for my kid, but I don’t want to see anyone get hurt. Knockouts like that are not good for people, so he should consider retirement. It’s easy for me to say, but I’ve been there and I didn’t quit. Maybe I should have'.

Hatton would ship loads on the way in. No way around that. Khan has extremely fast hands and a big reach advantage. I don't think Hatton would get the chance to land. I think the Mayweather fight took a lot out of Hatton and after the Lazcano fight I said that the next decent puncher he would fight would knock him out. Pacquiao has damaged his punch resistance even more. Khan will KO Hatton if they fight.

You say he was a fine ambassador for the sport but I know people who are not boxing fans and one of the only things that they know a bout hatton is, that he is the guy who drinks and eat pies in between fights and has a bad sense of humour and is a fan of a very bad and offensive comedian. Surely this does not make him a fine ambassador for the sport.

Khan is not a huge puncher, but after Hattons latest KO its hard to say if there's anything left. Hatton hasn't looked durable since Collazo. I'd still pick Hatton by KO, but I'd rather just see him call it a day.

I actually disagree Coneye, and I'll tell you for why..

Khan spars Pac, and does pretty good ( for one of considerably less experience) they say

Roach has the blueprint to beat Hatton, and Roach trains Khan

Khan is fresher.

As long as Khan could keep it mentally together....and let's be honest he kept it together versus Barrera (albeit we don't know what Barrera might have brought if he'd not got cut)...I think Khan would do Hatton.

The thing is, Hatton wouldn't want or need this fight...there's no way he could possibly motivate himself IMO.

I think claims Khan's chin is sh*t are exaggerated. Apart from getting KO'd in one, from a 19 KO's from 21 fights banger, he's always got up and done the job.
IMO.

It won't happen but this would be a fight I'd love to attend, for the occasion and the all British angle.

 I'd buy the PPV to see that.
Nightmare Roy wrote:Ive heard that b4 this fight Hatton had earned over £30 million, no doubt you can stick an extra £10 million, maybe even more on that after last night. So i seriously can't see Hatton fighting Khan, it would have zero selling power outside of the uk and i could only see Hatton fighting on for a serious pay day which to be honest i can't see coming from anywhere now. IMO Hatton will call it a day now.
If Hatton wanted a farewell fight in Britain, I think it would generate enough money from PPV and Sky to make it worthwhile. I suppose you would have to ask whether Hatton's heart would be in it though, as what difference would a few extra mil make in the grand old scheme of things.

If he does fight Khan, I'd still expect him to pull off the victory despite his cracked chin. My only worry would be the Roach wildcard. Having said all that, I'm not sure that Khan is going to get past Kotelnik so we're getting a little ahead of ourselves.

I picked Khan to potentially upset Hatton before the Pacquaio drubbing and ofcourse I stand by that more so now. Khan is chinny but as he gets stronger at 140, spars more, improves his defense, I see this as less of a problem. Stylistically he is faster, better boxer, punches straighter, is rangier, probably fitter and will be entering his prime.

I think it happens, too much of a blockbuster not too and Ricky will fancy his chances of drowning the young hopeful

It's another mismatch. Khan will muller the shopworn Hatton. It'll be 3 rounds. No more.

Though I'll eat hay with a donkey if it ever happens.

The fight wont happen while Khan is with Warren, that's for sure.

I've said it before, look for Hatton promotions to step in with a Hatton/Khan fight but only if Khan falls under the Hatton promotional blanket.

As for the fight: at this current time, I would favour Hatton, people are being way too knee jerk with their predictions.

We all know that if Hatton lands on Kahn he would not get up . But i just get this vision of Kahn cutting Hattons Face to ribbons with his hand speed.

A prominent journalist said this to me on the phone today!!! - I disagree!!!

Question is - Would Mr W arren want to have a "co promotion" with Hatton and Golden Boy?

nothing would shock me, I stand corrected but didn't Duff and FW work together in the end. The cartel tried to stop FW even getting a leg up in the psort

I thought this topic was about who's knockout loss was more spectacular.

This fight would be a sad spectacle and for Hatton be all about one past payday.

He's no need to bother anymore, he's loaded, another loss to anyone other than a p4p great would only tarnish his already fallen reputation further!

Give it up Ricky.
