Froch is a class act
I watched the fight again including the full interview afterwards.
I take my hat off to Frochy. He is a funny guy and his comments to the interwiever had me in stitches. When they showed his knockdown in the third round he said "That didn`t hurt........ I never saw that one coming, I took a composure, did the eight and got up and finished him in the 12th, what more do you want" I loved it.
He speaks very well and amazingly clearly after taking so many head shots.I like his style and he is a pure warrior.
Has to be said that Taylor was classy and generous in defeat as well. A softly spoken guy who admitted he was beaten fair and square, no excuses. That fight is what boxing is all about for me. No real hype, just a hard fight between two well matched guys who both have guts and bottle in abundance.
He may not last long with that style of his and the battles he gets into, but while it lasts I will support him to the hilt. he has done all that has been asked of him, simple as.

I like him just the way he doesnt mess about he wants to fight the best but if you put him in with a real class act say Hopkins or Kessler he can be outboxed which was showed by Taylor

Kessler has not shown me that much to be honest. He stepped up for the first time against Calzaghe and was clearly beaten. He has some names on his record (Mundine being one of the best) but I don`t rate him any higher than Froch.

Taylor has speed.
Hopkins and Kessler don't.
That levels the field a little.

If Calzaghe can wobble Kess with his plastic spastic fists, what will Froch do?

Re: Froch is a class act
I to like Carl and he is always honest when he speaks about anything, although he is obviously quite biased when he sees himself as the best super-middle weight out there
I thought Carl was out classed by Taylor and the big punch came to the rescue, aswell as Carl's formidable chin resistance, because some of those shots that he took, especially the upper-cut in round nine, would have decked many fighters. Taylor's stamina let him down again, but i still think he was a bit naive in that last round and quite cavalier, which led to him getting nailed. I actually think it was a left hook towards the end of the 11th that did Taylor and quite a few people missed that......
As you say, he won't last long with his style, but he is always exciting and i was reaaly chuffed that he beat Taylor, someone with a name and resume to match. I saw Carl's first fight as a pro and so like you, i will always be supportive of what he does and good luck to the guy.

Re: Froch is a class act
"come on Joe it's only boxin"
Re: Froch is a class act
I laughed at that. To be fair, Froch has more charisma in his right bollock than Calzaghe has in his entire body.
Re: Froch is a class act
Nice image flav1. I reckon he's got more charisma in the SWEAT of his right ballbag than granite grey Joe.
Re: Froch is a class act
And that's frightening because both I find are incredibly boring people.Flav1 wrote:I laughed at that. To be fair, Froch has more charisma in his right bollock than Calzaghe has in his entire body.
Re: Froch is a class act
I didn't like Froch until the Dodson and Tatevosyan fights.
I thought he was quite funny with his cockiness from that point on.
"I'm world class. Tony's not."
"I'm Carl "Cobra" Froch and you've probably been hearing how good I am."
Before that he and Witter came across badly when it was Froch v Barney and Witter v Kotelnik. Then I did think he was just an arrogant bloke. But he is backing it up and he speaks better than most fighters.

Re: Froch is a class act
he took a bit of warming to. I don't mind arrogance, I'm rarely offended by boxers, regardless of what they say. I enjoyed Mayweather's goading of Hatton and De La Hoya, and Haye is on a proper wind up mission with these Tshirts he's had printed especially as Wlad is so wound up (Haye's response was quality as well 'come and punish me in the ring then')
I didn't rate Hopkin's 'I'll never be beaten by a white boy' jibe, but even that was a bit tongue in cheek.

Re: Froch is a class act
He unified two of the major titles and fought the best boxer in the world at the time. Froch won a vacant title off a guy who was able to outbox Carl, just he was scared of getting KO'ed.forcefraser wrote:Kessler has not shown me that much to be honest. Calzaghe hurt Kessler with a bodyshot too, it wasn't a chin shot. Lets see Froch hurt a world class fighter who hasn't stepped up in weight with stamina problems and someone with a chin. You can act like Roy Jones on the domestic scene but you'll be hurt on the world scene with that crap. He was put down by Taylor because of it.
Yet Froch turned down a chance to get schooled by Joe.I laughed at that. To be fair, Froch has more charisma in his right bollock than Calzaghe has in his entire body.
Froch is lucky he can punch or he'd have no title by now. He won the Taylor fight on a lucky punch, he's just a European class puncher.
I can't take likings to mouth jobs.
That guy was probably underprepared because he was battered by Bute less than 2 months earlier and it was still an early contriverisal stoppage.Tatevosyan
Re: Froch is a class act
I love Froch in interviews. He just will not give an inch. Cracks me up.
When some fighters make claims that most would view as arrogant, I'm sure a lot of it's said knowingly, almost with a wink. They're selling themselves, playing the part of a confident athlete. With Froch, it's just this complete tunnel vision and involuntary, unknowing confidence that prevents him from seeing anything that doesn't fit Froch logic.
Carl Froch does not see the funny side of Carl Froch, for everyone else it's just comedy gold.

When did Froch turn down the chance to fight Calzaghe? Froch didn`t land a lucky punch against Taylor, he landed many punches and broke him down over the final few rounds.Max Molyneux wrote:He unified two of the major titles and fought the best boxer in the world at the time. Let`s see Kesselr go over to the U.S and beat a guy of Taylor`s calibre. Kesselr would have had trouble with Taylor, no doubt.
I`m not saying he isn`t a quality fighter, he is, but I feel people make him out to be some sort of monster. Calzaghe showed that he could be maintained quite comfortably. Froch would be in his mush from the get go and I would take Froch`s chin over most fighters any day of the week. Both can bang, but does Kessler have the heart for an all out war away from home??

Re: Froch is a class act
Kessler would smash Taylor. Froch was losing widley on points and scored a lucky KO. Why bother going to the US since they have no world level super middles who are worth it?
Calzaghe is an atg though Kessler's no monster but his fundementals, timing, footwork and accuracy make him better than Froch. Plus he does have a chin and no stamina problems. Plus he was clearly the 2nd best behind Calzaghe and had two of the major belts.

Re: Froch is a class act
I really don't understand why there has to be this silly divide between Calzaghe fans and Froch fans. I am a huge fan of both fighters. I think Calzaghe had more defensive talent but I prefer the way Froch is going about his title reign and think he has a chance of an even better career as a result.
Re: Froch is a class act
Calzaghe was a great boxer. Froch won't ever be as good. Still boxing has always been more than just standing in the ring and trading. IF Froch picks his opponents well over the next couple of years he has the potential to earn more Calzaghe ever did, just because Froch isn't dim.
Re: Froch is a class act
Although I agree he was being outboxed (that was plain to see), I cant agree that Carl scored a lucky KO. He battered Taylor in that last round and knocked him out fair and square.Max Molyneux wrote:Kessler would smash Taylor. Froch was losing widley on points and scored a lucky KO. Re: Froch is a class act
So, besides having the bigger punch, better chin and better stamina, and Taylor's "naive and cavalier" approach, Froch was outclassed? Yep, punch, chin, fitness and strategy are all fairly minor concerns.Quixall wrote:I thought Carl was out classed by Taylor and the big punch came to the rescue, aswell as Carl's formidable chin resistance, because some of those shots that he took, especially the upper-cut in round nine, would have decked many fighters.
