Mate, when has the media ever gave a shite about anyone or anything unless it sells a paper? You're talking about something that doesn't have a conscience, and the people writing the crap realise it's exactly that.

oh yes....defo.

Has his career exceeded McGuigan's, I think they're very similar in several ways.

Perhaps Khan or Witter can be Jim Mc.

What do you expect from a tabloid which claims to support British soldiers on one page and then tarnishes them on another, same with their sports pages "Let's all get behind our young lions for the World Cup" "We're going to win it, it's our year" then after England crash out following a flat mediocre display which has become the norm with England the players and coaches receive more hate than a busload of paedophiles.

They don't give a fvck what they print as long as it sells papers but people seem to take their word as gospel. :oo

I wouldn't talk to the media either, I hate them. However I wouldn't refer to myself in the third person constantly either.

Making big money because you draw loads and hyping up doesn't make him a British great of the lower weights. He was an average champ. Hype and wrestling average opponents fooled people into thinking he was better than he really was.

He has no excuses, he was Ko'ed by two ex featherweights. One needed gift decisions and needed the Mexicans to be washed up to win too.

He can't have it both ways though - he was happy to court the media extensively when it suited him so should remain consistent. Same with celebs - those who normally complain about their privacy being invaded etc are the same 'personalities' who arrange staged photo-ops etc when it suits them. There are plenty of 'stars' who act normally and consequently don't have paps trailing their every move, such as Hugh Jackman, Clive Owen. It's the desperate publicity seekers who shamelessly flaunt themselves that then have the nerve to cry out about privacy when circumstances don't suit that make me despair... Step forward Miss Naomi Campbell and co.

I sent an e-mail to Sun writer who did a 'report' on the Lindsay-Appleby fight voicing my disgust at his awfully biased and slanderous article basically giving a mouthpiece to that moron Tommy Gilmour. They had virtually zero info on the actual fight and instead he just claimed that the arena was a disaster waiting to happen with blood thirsty drunk Irish punters baiting for blood and actually printed Gilmour's laughable claim that if the fight had not have been stopped so early that his charge would have won. Appleby also stated he wasn't hurt and indeed was surprised by how light hitting the Ulsterman was. :o
I mean it was unbelievable. The kind of sensationalist trash you see in a rag like the Sun but still it was a complete fabrication of the actual events. For real coverage of fights you have to stick to the web or boxing news because the shite that ends up in the UK press is beyond the pale. :witzend:
I do agree with the earlier poster though that Hatton has done himself no favours by not speaking to the media.

PS: I got no reply from the author of the said article.

Are you surprised? There's more chance of getting an apology out of Hitler.

Even at the end apparently he even said "Looking back I may........" but then the cyanide kicked in so we'll never know but it looked promising. :TU:

the problem with the media today is that they can hype which ever sports stars they like and then put them down when the have lost. i mean hatton might retire maybe after a couple of more fights up his sleaves and then call it a day. sky will prob give him a job.

He even refused to have one reporter do quick interview and give quotes to entire press. And yet he was drinking and larking around the pool all day. That wasn't smart, and given that he's near end of the line and there's a feeling of disappointment regarding his performane, I can see the knives coming out.

They will destroy him the same way they made him.

Ant - I am willing to bet that "refusal" was highly recommended by one particular person!! and Ricky was probably in my opinion silly enough to listen - you know the man I am on about - he even gave us all hassle when we worked on the Urango fight.

I actually think it will be a shame to turn on Ricky - if they do - they are targetting completely the wrong man!!!
