They provide a good service and excellent competition to Sky who have had a monopoly on sport in general for far too long!!

I sincerely hope investment is found because otherwise it spells big big trouble for boxing if not!!
As long as it's not your money, eh?
I have ate humble pie mate - as angry as I was concerning Setanta - there was no way a sports lunatic like myself was going to stay away for long!!

Setanta deserve our support and it was wrong of me to slate them so much - David Payne and a few others corrected me and rightly so I phoned up and renewed my subs!!

Ulitmately boxing needs Setanta in my view badly and as such they will get my support.
Yay!

Good on you. :TU:

Eeerrrr... are you sure??

I thought that the Telegraph was, until recently, owned by right-wing nut and criminal Conrad Black and is now owned by the Barclay brothers.

Also, I thought the Guardian was independent? PArt of the same group that owns the OBserver and a few other things.

The Telegraph, being trenchently right wing is potential Murdoch fodder, but the Guardian's wooly jumper pinko stance is certainly not. Murdoch wouldn't touch that with a barge poll.

Murdoch owns only the Times and the Sun, as far as I know.
I thought his Son Lachlan owned it. Or is it Scott Trust. I dunno. Think I need to lie down.

A point I've been making for a couple of months. If Haye loses next month, they've no deal anyway. Not a good time to give up a British title and take the summer off. :geek:

Terrible news for Setanta and Boxing fans. Pretty sure Rupert Murdoch doesn't own the Guardian either.

No, he doesn't. Guardian is owned by Guardian Media Group which in turn is owned by The Scott Trust.

As for the Torygraph that's owned by the Barclay Brothers.

Yeah, this is very bad news.

Bit off topic but The Independent is in a world of hurt too, one of Bunce's many other gigs.

The independent made an odd choice to make their front page an 'issues-based' leader rather than world news. Odd choice for a newspaper.

Agreed. The sales figs shot right up once they made it a tabloid but eveyone copied and they are right back down.

The newspapers are in the same boat as everyone else just now, the advertising revenue just simply isn't there.

Anyone know what happens to David Haye even if he beats Wlad... isn't he technically not a Hayemaker fighter for a few fights?

Setanta were in on the negoitiations mate!! :TU:

I suspect as long as they have the money - they will do business with K2 Promotions concerning Hayes fight with Vitali if of course he beats Wladimir!!

If I'm honest Spud, I'm not even paying that at the moment. I spent £100 on a Freeview+ Box at Comet in January, and part of the deal was 10mths free Setanta :DD

What I meant to say was "well..... i'll start paying about a tenner a month when my 10mths free subscription ends in November" but that seemed a little long-winded :DD

So, got a bit of a result really..... spent £100 on a box with all the features of sky+, so I can record, live pause etc.... and got over £100's worth of Setanta for free 8) :TU:

I did post a link to the offer at the time, if it makes you feel better :D

Is anybody actually watching the boxing on setanta or is it just us?

At the end of the day if Buncey and his show plus all the Hayemaker shows, German shows and the other shows they pick up from the states are getting the viewing figures then surely someone will step in.

I just don't think they are I hate to say.
