Neary-ward was 2000
Graham-Johnson was 97.
Both at Olympia. But not on the same show. Not even Don King's bills are that long.

You're right, Johnson was on the Hull bill the fight before Graham - that's why i got confused.

Foreman KO Moorer. At the time this was announced it was seen as a blatant cash in.

It was - Hopkins will never beat fast handed flurry punchers because he hasn't got the stamina or talent to do so. But he'll murder the likes of your Pavliks and Frochs for a while to come because he can tie them up in knots.

In my time as a boxing fan, it has to be Holyfield-Tyson 1. It was supposed to be a huge mismatch, with Holyfield there in name only, and there were genuine concerns for his health.

Foreman-Moorer was also a huge one and certainly a more historical win, but I remember being more surprised at Holyfield-Tyson. Foreman always had a puncher's chance, especially against a somewhat chinny champion, while I could not think of any conceivable way Holyfield could beat Tyson at that time.

Writer is a bit strong for him, but I tipped Tak over Wayne Alexander.

It didn't turn out to be a mismatch though, quite close if I remember rightly?

IS that true? If so it's hilarious. It's a simply preposterous prediction.

In his defence (and Abrams would spell defence with an 's'), Mullan tipped Ali over Holmes while Houston tipped Bobick over Norton.

PS: I thought Tak's body shots might 'do' Wayne.

I don't have the issue to hand, but I remember it clearly. Bingham was being lauded as Britain's best P4P puncher and the argument was that he'd surely land his left hook - the 'Bingo' punch - at some point in the 12 rounds, and when he did, it would be over.

That's fabulously stupid.

Every time I think of that, I laugh.

For some strange reason, it reminds me of an episode of Fantasy Football, when David and Frank were discussing the Christmas Presents they'd got eachother. One had got the other a monstrously crappy vid called "Gary Lineker and Willie Thorne: The Best of Friends”. Anyway, Baddiel read out the blurb on the back, which went something like (I can’t remember exactly, but I promise this is fairly accurate, unless my Football statto knowledge has deserted me) “Gary Lineker and Willie Thorne have been best of friends during their careers, in which both reached the heights of their respective sports. Gary has been the English football league’s top scorer three times, won the FIFA Golden Boot as top scorer in the 1986 World Cup, won the English League Title, The FA Cup, the UEFA Cup Winner’s Cup and was the England football team’s second highest scorer ever. Willie Thorn has won the Mercantile Credit Classic snooker tournament.”

Actually, I think it was. Bingham wason a good run and Winky was not yet the finished article, but I did at the time think it was a mismatch. Then I read the BN preview and thought "Hang on, he might have a chance after all!". But it was not to be, and Bingham was more outclassed than I had imagined he would be. At least he lasted the 12, though, unlike Foster and Dodson, the latter of which got badly smashed up.

No way. Tyson was over-the-hill a it were anyway, not to mention the entire Head-Butt/Ear Bite contorversy surronding it. Maybe then, but in Hindsight, time unravelled it al imo

Hopkins would have KO'd Joe the same way Pac did Hatton if it was Prime v Prime. At 43, obviously i agree, he has not got the Stamina, but Talent? Come on dude, you could take away 90% of Hopkins talent, and the guy has sheds load more than Joe ever did. Not to mentio many had Hopkins winning that bout anyway.

I agree, although stil good, Hopkins is passed it, and his bout with Pavlik was something else
