Not at all, simply a realist. I've supported Haye from day 1, always thought he was going to be a bit special.Autobarn wrote:i have a feeling charlieb and moody in particular aren't much for believers in british boxers

"like fvck they were" (probably)
seems like spinks, williams and lacy the 2nd kirkland are being put on a bit of a pedestal
if they're so good why is light middle so drisly right now?
i agree forrest is classy but old. put a bit of pressure on and he panics.
put pressure on cintron and he'll sweat blood and bleed shit
knock cintron the out and he'll scream foul
marytinez didn't even convince vs cintron
I dont have a downer on Moore, I've already said in this thread that it's not a sure thing that he'd lose to Forrest, Santos or Dzinziruk. If I was betting my house, I'd bet against him, thats not a bias towards UK fighters, that just my opinion of Moore.
Think you're kidding yourself with Martinez and Cintron, Martinez would befuddle him and as far as Cintron goes, Moore certainly doesn't have the Margarito-like chin he'd need in order to stay in that fight long enough to break Cintron's heart.
I'd put him on the same level as a John Murray or a Kevin Mitchell in terms of ability, I have doubts about all of them at world level.

I was at Moore-Macklin, tough fight, for sure, but I think people over-egg it a little bit. Moore boxed well in terms of defence that night, and was fully in control for much of the fight.
Forrest is not dominating every second of any fight these days. Spinks is about as threatening as a gay, vegetarian member of the lib dems, Cintron is no great shakes, and Kirkland would need a longer reach than Mr Fantastic to hit Moore from behind his prison bars.
No disrespect to either man but if Witter and Clinton Woods can grab world titles then there is no reason why Moore cannot grab one.
Re: It's Mooresy Time!
this frightening killer Vernon forrest, that you speak of, did he not lose to wait for it ......fookin Sergio Mora
you have to give jamie a chance in this one.
Tho he wont get any credit if he does win, cos all of sudden Vernon (like Kostya was) will be deemed to be shot overnight by the very same people who lauded him before hand

fookinell, boxing fans to me you just lose credibility in your opinion by such antics..

I see this happening in the UK boxing scene at the moment ….. Let me explain.
Following Ricky Hatton’s defeat at the weekend, the Hitman’s career is effectively over. And what a great career it has been. OK, he may well agree to fight Tim Bradley, Nate Campbell or Kendall Holt in Manchester as a final swansong – but that will be it.
What then …..
There will be a hole left in the UK boxing scene when Ricky goes, and I can see no one better but another Manchester star to fill that void – “Mr Excitement” himself Jamie Moore.![]()
Already European Champion, and gunning for world honours, Jamie Moore is already a massive name within the UK. His style would be lapped up by the Americans too, and the future can only be bright for Mooresy – who has more than earned his place at the table.
Having known Jamie for a number of years I can also vouch for him as being one of the most genuine guys in the sport today. The red side of Manchester already adore him, and I’m sure that the blue side will be equally captured if they aren’t already! It is my view that the rest of the country will follow suit, and the future can only be bright – for Manchester, the UK and boxing itself.
Jamie has been involved in many of the UK’s “Fight Of The Year” awards over recent years, with his trilogy of fights against Jones and also his barnstormer of a battle against Macklin being noted of some of the most impressive even witnessed in a British ring.
Jamie’s last two performances have been equally impressive, with his dismantling of former champ Michel Piccirillo to claim the EBU title a true joy to watch.
Las Vegas may well have dismantled another UK boxing star last weekend– but Jamie is Moore than ready to make amends.
It's Mooresy Time!
Steve Wood knows I want along with many other people for Jamie Moore to succeed - he is a fantastic amabasador for the sport and works dam hard.
With all that said - I feel your thread is complete and utter b*llocks - its almost as if you are too desperate to cash in on one of the UKs best known boxers demise to inflate Jamies profile.
I will repeat Jamie Moore is a fantastic person and a bloody good fighter - but I am sorry I am sure he or Steve Wood will not mind me saying he is certainly no way near Ricky Hattons level concerning his prominence in the boxing world and his fan base whilst good its nowhere near Hattons and never will be!!

im a massive jamie fan he is one of the nicest lads you could meet, the lightmiddle division is not as strong as most division like the lightweights or lww, jamie could definateley win a world title, i hope he does. i think its time to let him off the leash now his career has bin doin sweet fa since he beat macklin ( irish titles ) only now since he beat piccorillo is he moving forwards. god no's what steve woods has bin doin with him, but moorsey is loyal, i hope he can cash in on some decent money fights aswell it could be his time now hatton has gone for his pipe and slippers.

No disrespect intended, Landon, but progression now has more to do with Maloney than Steve Wood.
I dont think the problems with meaningful match ups, pull outs, injuries etc can be laid at Steve's door.
Shit happens - end of.
Timeto look forward so I repeat - come on, Frank what's the plan for the next 12 months ?

I think he can beat this version of Martinez and as T of Diddly (Terry D) said 'Forrest ain;t what he was'!
No disrespect to Jennings or Lockett - but they were out of their depth, JM won't be, win lose or draw.
One more Euro defence ( Rhodes?) then hopefully a World Title shot.

Re: It's Mooresy Time!
Ahem, a certain Piccirillo holds a win over Spinks. Spinks is far from unbeatable - he lost his title to the ancient Verno Phillips - a fighter I would take Moore over 7 days a week. Of course Moore is far from unbeatable(who is?) and some of the guys at the top like Forrest and Williams are real class fighters but I believe Moore has shown that he can "hang" at world-level. I'd also give Moore a good chance to beat Dzinziruk who went life and death with Lucas Konecy. I think you are far over-estimating the jump from European level to world level at light-middleweight. For sure in some divisions it is a massive difference (welterweight for example) but lets face it light-middleweight just isn't that deep.moody100 wrote:Are you having a laugh mate?Autobarn wrote:well you don't sound like you're being realistic either. "wouldn't even be contests"?moody100 wrote:I know Moore posts here but lets not get carried away lads. He went life and death with Macklin and all I saw on Saturday was a guy coming forward with a high guard picking his very very poor opponent off. Paul Williams would enjoy himself against Moore. Kirkland, Forrest, Spinks, Cintron and so on, they wouldn't even be contests. Lets be realistic here lads.
he looks world class to me. piccolo could have made things very tricky yet moore cut the ring down quickly and belted him with an excellent array of shots.
williams is just a big gangler who throws sloppy amateur shots like tarver. yes he is awkward but he's not this "scourge of 3 weight classes" like some of the american head cases make him out to be.
get on the bandwagon, or shove off!
Williams vs Moore - I don't even think Jamie would think he could win that one. Forrest and Spinks would just outbox him easy and I wouldn't like to imagine what would happen if Cintron detonated one on Jamie. We all like the guy, but lets be realistic. He is the best in europe (big accomplishment!) but on world level, I would be surprised if he could win a round against the guys I mentioned.

nonetheless, he's a very good fighter, cuts the ring down well, throws short powerful american style punches, is bloody exciting to go with his skills. a cleaner puncher and more economical fighter than hatton. and with the scene set for kirkland to hit the big time, and kirkland's subsequent legal problems, there could be an opening at world level for someone like moore. he won't become a massive star but if it works out he could have some excellent, thrilling fights on american TV - like carl froch is starting to do - and moore's apparent irishness could bring out some of the americans.Spud wrote:Stegsie,Stegsie wrote:It is often said that when one door closes – another one opens.

many of the 154 pounders are good, but the best has no profile (dzinziruk), the most well known is doing nothing (forrest), other talents aren't that convincing (martinez, cintron) anyway.
i think if moore wins a world title and makes some good paydays then his career will have been a great success. it will take a long time before another fighter comes along with hatton's crossover appeal.

Jamie is a cracking boxer and a good lad... having watched him for.... let me count my fingers..and toes.... The last 12 plus years I have said from the very beginning he was a tremendous fighter. He can be a world champion but he needs to make his move now while he;s bang on form. Too many fighters wait too long (think Brodie)... Good luck mate.

If Kermit Cintron had a title I'd want Moore to fight him the most. Cintron's weak to the body and hates pressure.
Is Cory Spinks the weakest champ at the moment? I'll have to see if I can find his fight with Latimore.

The highlights we pegged on to the front of the HBO fight on Sat. He looked okay. I'm still not convinced with Santos either TBH. Phillips beat him just by having energy.Asterix wrote:If Kermit Cintron had a title I'd want Moore to fight him the most. Cintron's weak to the body and hates pressure.

Gut feel is Angulo will become IBF mandatory if he beats Cintron, although I thought Bundradge was mandatory after exposing Bayangsurov but the IBF rankings have it as VACANT.

Forrest would outbox him for every second and probably blast him out quickly. Cintron would make Macklins punches (which really bothered Moore) feel like being hit by a pillow. Moore would find himself waking up next week wondering what happened.

A bit harsh to say the thread is b*llocks, and surely you know well enough that I am anything from desperate (although I do freely admit to being biaised) I would have thought that you also would have given me more credit than to think I was trying to "Cash In" on the apprent demise of Ricky. That is far from the case, pal. Not my aim and certainly not my style - you know that.

I was just stating the fact that with all the Hatton bashing going around (which, I must state I've never been part of!) it is good to occasionally take a step back and look at what else we have on the table.
It's not just Jamie Moore - it could be any of the other decent UK fighters we have. I don't have such a strong opinion on those though, but I do feel (as do a fair number of the posters on this board) that Jamie has what it takes to go all the way

I am really p*ssed off your reply was so reasonable - now I cannot have a "ruck" with you!!
However - lets be serious here - Jamie has been either f*cked around waiting for his chance for too long or injuries have hampered him and whilst I think he WILL WIN a world title - his achievements will not be on the scale of Hatton and even sadder but true his achievements will not be recognised by Joe Public or the boxing enthuisast as much either!!
Jamie Moore is a credit to British Boxing - I so much along with perhaps many many other people so much want him to do well - Stegsie you know how highly I rate Steve Wood - I am particularly impressed how Jamie has stayed loyal to him and not been lured away by the empty b*llocks other promoters may have promised!!!
Its not just for Jamie Moore I want him to win the world title but also Steve for all the graft he has put into Jamies career!!
Anyhow - enough of me being nice and genuine - next time I lay some bait - have a nibble mate!!

he's ready for anyone but i'd like too see him taken down the best route for him, that will get him the right praise or intrest.
boxing a martinez is a nightmare b'coz the guy aint known & is very decent,he beat one of my favs in richard williams but mooresy cuts the ring down better & is solid.
i think santos has a style made for moore, moody will probablly say bogeyman but whatever you call it i would back moore.
