Katsidis Vs Hatton?

Post by Dioufy »

Apparently this was "penciled" in as a homecoming fight, but Katsidis' people still reckon Team Hatton still want this fight to happen. Katsidis is a lightweight - I think a smallish one, and a half-motivated Hatton should walk through him.

Katsidis can punch but he's slow and likes a war - Hatton would feast on him I think. However, I only want Hatton to fight this fight if he's going to go after Bradley next. If he wins against Bradley and Katsidis then retires, I will be a very happy man.

It's a gamble though, especially after Saturday night.

he came into the ring at 147lbs last i saw.

you can bet if he's not having to get down to LW it'll be close to 150 so again not too much difference in in-ring weight.

who knows what could happen here? fecked if i do.

If there is no real difference on the night why doesn't Hatton go to Welter?

He outweighed Collazo on the night but still says he is not a Welter.

Another lightweight for Hatton, whoopee do!

Yeah, I really not too sure about his weights. I just remember Vs Casamayor and Diaz that he was well inside the 135lbs limit and with a muscular physique. I think he's only about 5'6" with a 68" reach. I hope this fight doesn't happen and that Katsidis stays at lightweight.

His punch resistance has gone, Katsidis would knock his block off.

Katsidis is messy with his work and misses a lot. Plus, he doesn't possess the strongest of chins of his own. I would favour Hatton, but I wouldn't rule of Katsidis. I just feel that Hatton would be able to read Katsidis' punches and land his own. Katsidis is no Pacquiao.

Katsidis seemed to do ok against Casamayor until he got reckless, proving he can mix it at the top level, Hatton has got sparked twice when been upped in class.

Hagler,

Katsidis was winning against Casamayor, but he got put down with silly shots. Even against Earl, he got put down by being reckless - he would play into Hatton's hands I think. Katsidis has shown that he can mix it with world-class, but Hatton is world-class and a division higher. Plus, I am a massive Katsidis fan and I'm not even certain of these "bombs" that Katsidis apparently has. He hit Earl with everything in that second round and didn't do too much. He had Casamayor in trouble with a body-shot but couldn't do much more. Against that Filipino lad, he hit him with everything, but still didn't move him. I think he's got reasonable power, but I can't see Katsidis taking Hatton out with a single shot - he would have to gradually break him down and with that chin of his, against a heavier and stronger guy, I think he would suffer a KO around the sixth or seventh. But who knows, mate?

I wouldn't compare Casamayor, even in his prime instead of the shell that should've lost to Santa Cruz, the same as Pacman and Floyd.

Could you see Pacquiao taking out Hatton with a single shot? Hatton WAS at a decent level a few years back but is/was far from "world class"

Katsidis is nowhere near the level of Pacquiao, so that comparison/question is irrelevant.

Elite = Marquez, Hopkins, Mayweather, Pacquiao
World Class = Hatton, Pavlik, Wlad Klitschko
Decent Level = Katsidis, Witter, Sam Peter

Those are some of my definitions, just for future reference. So thus, I believe Hatton to be world-class, but not elite.

I had read that Katsidis' camp was hoping for this to go ahead. I think if Hatton has one last homecoming fight this would be a smart one to take.

Katsidis looks the part, couldn't be easier to hit and can't take out opponents at world level (down to lack of accuracy rather than lack of power imo).
As long as Hatton's punch resistance hasn't disappeared this is the right guy to give him a bit of stubborn resistance in and old fashioned Hatton tear up and go down swining after a few rounds.

Suprised they haven't gone for something cynical like going after Barrera/Morales. Katsidis is a young gun, hungry, in his prime, a similar size and a tough hard fight

If he wants a homecoming, see you later cash out - as if he hasn't had enough of them - then Witter, Campbell, Katsidis, Khan, Diaz or Barrera would all fill Eastlands.

TBH he could fight anyone and fill it for an au revoir. But tell me how Hatton gets even remotely UP FOR IT?

Witter, I suspect, would be the only opponent able to squeeze some motivation from Hatton at this stage.

Surely the motivation will be not wanting his last memory in the ring being sparked out by Pacman?

Katsidis will probably be his next fight in Manchester. It's an easy win for Hatton, Kadsidis is a dumb fighter and likes a war too much. He'd use the wrong tactics and get taken out by the brawling Hatton.

i don't know for certain who'd win..but Katsidis swings like a windmill when he gets going and is powerful. Hatton's defence has never been the best.
Hatton would end up going the Graham Earl route if he took this...........which he won't.
