I wouldn't be surprised he never boxed again. His heart doesn't seem in it, and his heart broke fairly quickly Vs Afolabi. A fight he was supposed to be up for. I hear he might go into MMA, if so then good luck to him. Although I do dislike him intensely.

Grown man? YES, but you do know he was due to get a deent purse against banks but then Banks pulled out and Fwank was only willing to opay him peanuts for s non title fight, and I mean peanuts.

i have to agree because he may not be the top dog in the division but he can still get in the mix with the right man behind him. From what i saw of the build up to his last fight he got it all wrong and the finger has to be pointed to a certain degree at enzo calzaghe.

They had a lot going on in the background with the court case etc and apparently Enzo prepared for this largely on his own in Swansea. However would it really have been that difficult to draft in a decent trainer even fo a couple of weeks? Who knows the big man may even end up stateside now, regardless I think that the change will only be positive for him.

After the shambles of Maccarinelli's last training camp when Enzo Calzaghe was too busy in court to train him properly, i'm not surprised he has chosen Warren who has always done well by him in regards to opportunities.

Maccarinelli is never going to be the best cruiserweight in the world but he can still have a very good career with some great fights at cruiser and heavy. If he wants to

His opponent, Denis Lebedev, was apparently a decent prospect before his 4 year hiatus from boxing, due to issues outside of the sport.

This is what GStalker (very knowledgeable poster on Russian, and surrounding countries, boxing) had to say about Lebedev's 4 year hiatus:

As Lebedev has said himself, he was very disappointed with the outcome of his first 13 bouts. Not in terms of the result, but more in terms of a profit he had hoped for earlier in his career and failed to gain for a number of reasons. He looked pretty scary in the ring and was a highly touted prospect but, I guess, there were no offers to fight the cream of either European and world boxing and no big paydays around. So he decided to call it a day. Lebedev worked hard to earn more money for his family in daily life but, according to him, he failed to earn anything worthy so the comeback was an evident decision.

What's interesting is that Lebedev has won all of his fights by KO since coming back, and in a new weight class.

Well said pal, quick to say that when Joe Calzaghe retired and a couple of them lost world titles......how easy to dive on the anti-Calzaghe bandwagon, it's packed full of experts :)

Seems straightforward to me why he'd get rid of him instead of Warren.

On one hand, you have a guy who is paying Macca's wages and doing his job by getting him title shots and tv fights - and then on the other hand you have a guy that is actually on your pay roll to train you, but simply wasn't there half the camp and rather sat in a court room instead.

Enzo was shocking in the corner against Hopkins, when Joe needed a cool head and good advice he got:-

Going back to the thread, it seemed to be going pear shaped when Macca said he had no training camp as such because Enzo was simply not around as he was in court all the while.

Then Joe declared "don't you blame my dad!" which hardly calmed it down.

I get the impression (rightly or wrongly) that Enzo C thinks that anyone he trains is privileged and Macca was too polite and compliant to rock the boat.

But he's realised who pays his mortage and who is taking the pee.

Nah I have always thought Camp Calzaghe were amateur in their ways despite their bloom of success over a certain period.

They do no skipping.

All the fighters are trained the same way - depsite obviously things that suit Joe Calzaghe dont mean it would suit the likes of Enzo Macc.

Bradely Price and Gavin Rees mentality has always been a joke - out pissing it up and eating kebabs when they should be training for a fight.

Them boys are fit - but alot of them were deluded - with Enzo Calzaghe spouting loads of deluded shit.

Got ideas above their station - werent good enough.

Some of them have suffered painful KO's in recent times - and they lost to more professional men.
