It was a fairly big story when it happened - the fight took place on a charity show to raise money for the police service I believe (hence all the coppers in the crowd).

If you think Butler is a wrong un for sucker punching Grant, look into the details of his murder of Max Kellerman's brother with a hammer (he went on to set the house on fire to try and disguise his crimes).

The worst thing is that Kellerman was a friend to Butler and was trying to help him rehabilitate. Kellerman's brother allowed Butler to stay with him at the request of Max, a favour he returned by bludgeoning the young actor to death.

Cheers. Remember the incident well but forgot the details of how he ended up in jail. Its safe to say that Mr Butler was a complete bastard I think. Gladly he won't be seeing the light of day for quite some time.

I don't believe in the death penalty....although there are cases that definitely deserve it; there is always the danger of miscarriages of justice.

Anyway as a deterrent, the death penalty has been largely proven to be inadequate.

As punishment, it costs more to put an individual to death than imprison them for life.

And there is always the possibility of redemption in an individual - there ar eplenty of truly unpleasant people who have changed their ways and become new and good people.

Having said that, Butler should clearly be in jail for life with no chance of parole.
