Seriously, Bob Mee is an excellent writer, I'll be picking up a copy tomorrow. Does anyone see or speak to Tim Mo these days?

I'm sure he still follows the fights and was one of the best writers in the business.

Shite, that reminds me, meant to do a piece on Amir Khan....better get cracking. Do you know if they are printing an olympic boxing schedule in this week's BN?

Hope so, there might be an Olympic schedule on a web site I guess. Don't want to miss ANY of his fights - at least the times near enough same as UK for tv viewing.

Tim's now living in China, MW. Married with kids, and filthy rich. His novel 'Sour Sweet' was nominated for The Booker Prize in the 80's.

I thought Jim Brady's book Boxing Confidential was good though. Apart from one or two factual errors (but then they litter many boxing books these days anyway.

Talking of Boxing News, I was thinking that if Sky have indeed shifted thier Boxing Coverage to Friday nights

this is going to greatly increase the pressure on the BN staff to meet thier already tight deadline.

Boxing News is a weekly UK Boxing newspaper thats been going for abot 80 years.

Most high street Newsagents stock it, or will order it for you. You can also subscribe to it.

It's a Newspaper mate, comes out every Friday, full of Boxing News, previews, reviews, articles, letter pages, interviews etc etc.

Costs about £2.15p and its been going 95 years.

Its top quality I've only missed one edition since about 1987.

I can't believe I've missed out on this, I'm a huge fan of boxing and I've never heard of it! Can I pick it up in any newsagents or am I only likely to see it in the likes of WHSmith?

Try WH SMITHS or your local newsagaent.

There is also Boxing Monthly a UK based boxing Magazine out every month. A good read as well.

I bought that book too. have to say I found it absolutely awful. so dry its like reading sandpaper. nothing but regurgitated stories we have all heard a million times before. The "confidential" part seems to focus around the fact that up till the 60s there was a huge problem in the US with the mob controlling fighters etc, how many promoters/managers etc lack what is best described as 'professional ethics', how money influences ratingss and that ratings can/could be bought, the fact that the sport is run by alphabet bodies with their own interests and finances at heart and how corrupt the IBF was/is.

revealing and exclusive stuff eh?
