Re: Dorian Anthony
Dorian has received a by for tonight and will compete on Wednesday.
Re: Dorian Anthony
Dorian will be paired with Raymond Lucies tonight.
Lucies seems to have won a controversial decision last night.
I am including a video of the Lucies win last night.

Re: Dorian Anthony
Leverage, what was your opinion of that video with Lucies?
The other kid, Wynten Ellis, will be representing Indiana in the USA's. He soundly beat Lucies in the Silver Gloves Championships.

Re: Dorian Anthony
Primp,
I am much more familiar with the pros. That being said, here is my take.
Lucies continued the retreat but was counter punching and scoring in that manner. I don't know if they give as many points for aggression as they do for defense. IF this was a pro bout Lucies clearly would have lost, as power and
sting count more. On "ring generalmanship" Lucies losses again, but in the amateurs is that a weighted factor. I have seen similar fights where the combatant who was the agressor lost on points. One was in Coachella Valley where a heavyweight who I thought clearly one on the same style, but lost on points taught me the "amateur" lesson. And, it is much harder to make a decision watching YOUTUBE than being at ringside.
The biggest difference I had to get used to was that a "touch" is one point and a hammer job is still one point. The "hurt" factor seems to count for nada.
I am not saying Lucies won, just that given the facts of Amateur judging, many other issues come into play that are more subjective.

Dorians opponent will be Jeffrey Spencer.
Re: Dorian Anthony
Will Dorian be fighting in the Nationals? He'll find a little competition from Michigan and Ohio that wasn't in the GG's.
Re: Dorian Anthony
Yes he will.primp wrote:Will Dorian be fighting in the Nationals? He'll find a little competition from Michigan and Ohio that wasn't in the GG's.
Re: Dorian Anthony
Nah, the competition will be coming out of Indiana.
Re: Dorian Anthony
Dorian was successful last night as he won the Championship at #178. Score was 5-0.
He wants to thank everyone for their support, and yes he will compete in the Nationals.
I was able to attent the event and it was terrific to see Dorian
compete and win the belt that has eluded him.

Re: Dorian Anthony
In amateur boxing, NO points are given for either aggression or defense.I don't know if they give as many points for aggression as they do for defense.
