I've been asking myself the same damned question for the past 8 years!!

Boxing is like one long soap opera, I just tune in to boxrec to get the latest thrilling installment.

I also LOVE telling people (especially the yanks) in my own inimitable style how could Carl Froch and David Haye are

I find this site is great for information.

Living abroad I don`t get the chance to go to many fights and meet up with other boxing fans. This forum is a good way to get into some proper discussion about a sport I love. If you speak to the average Norwegian where I live about boxing, they know nothing. Pro boxing is not even allowed here.

I use it because their is a shocking lack of real boxing fans that you can converse with in real life. Sure you could talk about Hatton v Pacqauio but mention a potential matchup between Lopez and Cabellero and they will give you the 'Dime Bar' look

I dont use football forums that much because pretty much everyone knows/likes/can talk about football

Back in the day... used to come on to discuss Boxing lots. Now I mainly come on for the banter, and off-topic section if I'm honest.

There's a lot of very knowledgable posters in here, and I always read the british section, but there's also a lot of bickering, and pointless fueds etc... a few idiots have taken the shine off this section for me.

Like I say, I still read it everyday, and love the fact that more and more pro's come on here - along with some great new posters.... but for some reason I don't post as much on boxing as I used to... probably just because the same arguments have been repeated for the last few years, and certain people don't seem capable of an adult discussion.

I presume you mean the former boxer that posts on here and not the other Marc Smith. Anyway he is our resident lothario. Quite often has a hot woman in tow. Leaves her in a bush in Malaga. Finds the next one. Rinse. Repeat.

Because all my friends know about boxing is "Ricky Hatton" "Naseem Hamed" "Joe Calzaghe" "Lennox Lewis" etc. etc.

Ask them about Rafael Marquez it's "he plays for Barcelona doesn't he?"

One of them after watching Hatton get KO'd by Mayweather said "Bloody hell this Mayweather bloke is quite good isn't he?"

effing eejits the lot of 'em.

barry mcguiggen, you see i cant spell his name so i go with barry mac :( i am in fuengirola coco and you are more than welcome to pop in and experience some spanish culture away from Marbella if you wish. saying that i am an oasis for the spanish amoungst all the brit bars. PM me if you fancy dropping by and i will give you the addresss.
I'll be prob led by her as we will be with her parents, but personally I much prefer those sorts of bars, hence why I live near Valencia well away from the Benidorm culture.
How far ar you away from Marbella?

You pretty much said it all in your initial post. I come on here because no-one else that i know, has as deeper interest in boxing as i do and they are more casual sports fans, who don't know much about the finer points or small detail of the sport. You also learn an awful lot off the other posters and i think the more that you understand boxing, the more enjoyment you get out of it. I got to the stage where i could'nt talk boxing to the average sports fan, because their level of ignorance pissed me off  Stuff like, how good Khan is, because he beat Barrera and Barrera beat Hamed blah de blah, all along those lines. The other thing that would happen a lot, is that i would mention a fighter and someone would say "Who.....?". Your average sports fan has'nt heard of 95% of the boxers that we talk about on here, even guys like Pacquaio (before the Hatton fight) and Mayweather, nevermind your Cotto's, Williams', Mosleys' etc etc. This is the best boxing website by a long way, really knowledgable posters (most) and the behaviour on here is really good, everyone is polite and friendly and does'nt start being abusive, if you have the temerity to disagree with their opinion or take a contrary viewpoint on a subject.

Out of interest, can anyone tell me the user names of some of the boxers and journo's, trainers or influential people who are part of the fight game and post on this forum, it would be nice to know :D

I use Boxing forums because I like educating and entertaining the masses with my analysis, predictions and wit!

By raising my fellow posters Boxing IQ's it makes me feel as though I've given something back to the community and it quenches my thirst for my original passion of teaching.

ALL HAIL THE GIFTED ONE!
