I know a lot of people who know Hatton very well.

Ray apparently wanted Graham out ages before, but Ricky wanted to stick with him. The various last straws came when Billy Graham went for Paul Speak when pissed in the main MGM Grand bar a couple of days before the Mayweather fight in front of half the national media (who agreed to hush it up), there was also a fight Matthew had when Ricky wasn't in training and Matthew basically had to train himself.

They offered him an adviser role before the Lazcano fight, but Graham said no. Hatton couldn't believe it when Graham went to the Malignaggi fight and made such a spectacle of himself and now he is suing Hatton too. Hatton feels he has done a lot for Graham and made him a very wealthy man, and feels he deserves better than Graham behaving like a dumped ex-girlfriend.

I know they haven't spoken since Graham got sacked.

Seriously, British Fighters are beyond a joke.

This guy refuses to fight at WW, insisting he is too small, but says he wants to come in around 150lbs against Pac?

Now he is weight drained badly, but for some reason, he still can't make WW?

Made his money, and ran to the hills, with his "Fans" wasting all their money going there to watch him, lool @ the fools

atleast he went Prime v Prime against Mayweather and Pac, probably knowing it was for the money and he was going to get KO'd

Calzaghe on the other hand, lool, where to even start with this one? Dropped out of bouts more times than you can count.
Faced Sub-Par oppition his entire career, and waited to face an ancient Hopkins and a 40 year old RJJ who left the top 100p4p rankings radar about 3 years prior to their bout.

Then there was the whole Warren exposing Joe once he was fired.

lol, Seriously, Boxing is a mugs game, that is obvious, but these guys are just Grade A Con-Men.

Breakdown/ I am not making excuses, he looked terrible on the scales, you should be able to see that.
I agree. He looked terrible. I said as much before the fight but people were actually saying he looked good and looked as he normally looks.
Terry D wrote: That first knockdown was not a huge shot, and I defy you to claim that he looked like it was a shot that he should not recover from. Granted, Manny had style advantages, but if you cannot see that Hatton looked poor on the scales, well I suggest that you change your user name.
Hatton took a flush straight left from Pacman and was shaken up earlier by a right hand that caught him on the way in. He was hurt from these shots and then he got caught again on the way in by a right hook and with him being off balance from throwing a punch, went down.
Terry D wrote: Have I ever seen Hatton look that poor on the scales? Evidently not, as I make this point in the article. It was poor a condition, and the rumours on another thread point to him being dehydrated, and I know he hit the sauna, heavily, to make the weight for Paulie, it is all very old-fashioned.
Get a grip mate, he looked poor but he usually looks like that. It's a constant.
Terry D wrote:the technique was also poor. Floyd was a liability.
As opposed to what? Graham? lol. Floyd, for all his faults, is a MASTER trainer, whether you like to admit it or not. Hatton had the right technique. He was trying to use his jab to get inside and threw a lot of straight right hands... clearly that was a big tactic they worked on. But Pacman was just too good.

Mate, get a grip with yourself with the excuses. Hatton would never EVER be competitive with this version of Manny or with Floyd. He's just not good enough and no excuses with weight make any difference.

You're such a clown, you believe what Warren was saying about Calzaghe. You probably believed him when he said he didn't owe Joe the money too.

Bet you didn't know that Warren tried to scupper the Hopkins fight because he wanted Calzaghe to fight Clinton Woods at the O2.

Of course, Hopkins showed he was so past it when he beat Pavlik.

Give it up, you're the ultimate Calzaghe hater.

Listen to what I am about to write because it really is a basic point but one that the Calzaghe fans just cannot seem to fathom.

Bernard Hopkins beat Pavlik after he fought Calzaghe yes. BUT HE WAS STILL 43 YEARS OLD.

HE WAS NOT THE FIGHTER OF 5-10 YEARS PREVIOUS.

THIS MEANS THAT, ALTHOUGH HE WAS STILL GOOD ENOUGH TO MULLER PAVLIK, HE WAS MUCH BETTER 5-10 YEARS AGO.

BEATING PAVLIK HAS NO BEARING ON THE POINT THAT CALZAGHE FOUGHT AN OLD HOPKINS WHO WASN'T AS GOOD AS HE WAS 5-10 YEARS BEFORE.

Of course it has a bearing. It shows he was still of a world-class level, and . . . . HOPKINS PULLED OUT OF A FIGHT WITH CALZAGHE IN 2002, NOT THE OTHER WAY ROUND. How many times must that be written for it to sink into your dense skull?

Nobody is saying he wasn't. We are simply saying he was 43 years old and as such he was not as good as he was 5-10 years ago. How can you not understand this point?

The offer was $3million and Hopkins accepted it and it was for the fight to be in the US. Then he changed his mind and demanded $6million. $3million was seriously good money for Hopkins in those days.

I thought Joe was scared of flying back then? The offer was probably for B-Hop to come over to england. Also, 3 million to move up in weight that much was not enough. Hopkins was the MAN back then. They should have accomodated him and made the fight. Hopkins had one eye on a mega money fight with DLH too. He didn't need Calzaghe. Calzaghe needed him because now look at how people view his career. Keep in mind, many feel (and one judge included) that old 43 year old Bernard won that fight. Imagine what the B-Hop of 2002 would have done.

good point about RJJ not being in p4p top 100 when joe fought him

but, on the other hand, hopkins was still in the p4p top 10. for a bit of balance.

i think, on the grounds that "Joe isn't what he could have been" i.e. if he stepped up and learned faster in better fights, earlier, that he could have had the beating of, say, the 37 yo Hopkins.

i actually believe joe was still learning how to fight counter punchers, at the end of his career. as the holes and the flaws were just obvious; but there were signs of adjustment in the 2 fights

You still haven't worked it out have you? You act as though this is a new thing.

Cotto used to drain himself to make 140 and came into the ring closer to middleweight, De La Hoya used to drain himself to make 130 and 135 yet came into the ring as a welterweight, Joshua Clottey weighed in at 147 for his fight with Corrales but came into the ring weighing 170lbs. The vast majority of fighters drain themselves to make weight and then put on a stone on average, it isn't just some thing exclusive to Hatton, Pacquiao himself is one of the biggest culprits for draining himself and coming into the ring much heavier.

If Hatton was to fight at welterweight then he'd be fighting on the night what are essentially middleweights, so yes they are too big for him and he doesn't have the skillset to outbox them.

He got smashed inside two rounds, had he run out of steam later on, maybe it would have made a difference. Hatton couldn't cope with Pacquiao's speed, nor his southpaw style.

As for Billy Graham, he is absolutely detested by Hatton. If there ever had been any hope that Hatton and Graham could patch up some sort of relationship, that ended when Graham went to the Malignaggi fight and spent the entire week getting pissed in the MGM Grand bar and shouting his mouth off to the media. And then, the week before Hatton-Pacquiao, he starts suing Hatton. What a pal he is. The only person Billy Graham is interested in is Billy Graham.

Graham can shout his mouth off to friendly websites all he wants, but it was Hatton that made Graham, not the other way round.

I side with Graham, at least he showed he cared for Hatton.

Beause you sue someome may be as simple as you were 'wronged' - maybe they did not pay Graham what he was owed, do you know?

Either way, Hatton has let BG down by allowing all and sundry ( well Mayweather really) to say BG was shit and Hatton said eff all in his defence.

Hatton is nothing without Graham/Kayes,imo.

I am sure Hattton would have lastd longer with Graham in his corner, maybe 6-7 rounds then the towel comes in or he retires on his stool.

Billy Graham is to Hatton what Brian Hughes is to his fighters, looks out for them and cares more than perhaps he should.

a) Every here knows Warren has a reputation, a sort of British version of Don King if you want to call it that.

But what he said about Joe was straight up, i doubt he wuold need to lie over things like that, otherwise i'm pretty sure Joe would have sued him over that.

Seriously, "Calzaghe Hater"?

Ive got nothing against him, he may well be a very nice guy in person. But this is a boxing forum, i'm not talking about what he is like outside the ring, but inside the ring. Insdie the ring, his record is pretty much a farce.

Oh and seriously, this is why Joe "fans" are probably the worst than any other "fans". Hopkins pulled out in 2002?

Are you kidding me?

RJJ and Hopkins were the p4p Marquee guys in 2002 (along with DLH and co.).
Calzaghe was on the level of that of a club fighter
Tell me, Why, WHY on earth is Hopkins going to go Wales to face someone in an awful weight class, for a joke of a belt (WBO)?

Boxing is a mugs game, Guys like RJJ and Hopkins, at their best, are not going to waste their time, their going to do what they can do get the biggest pay days.

Trust me, Don't mistake Hopkins pulling out as "Ducking". I'm pretty sure he didn't care. The only time Calzaghe became a marketable name was after beating Kessler.

Seriously, who is the current WBO SMW Champ? Someone called "Balszay".
Tell me, if someone like Pavlik does not go all the way to Eastern Europe or wherever he is from, does that mean pavlik is ducking Balszay?

No, it means he can't couldn't care less about him.

Are you really that naive?

Warren was building a case in the public's mind which went to High Court and he lost.

If he gets it in the public consciousness that he was a great promoter for Calzaghe, who was always trouble, dishonest and pulled out of fights, it increases his chances in court of proving that Calzaghe used to agree to things (like contracts with him) then back out. It's one of the classic problems of his Sun column.

And, in the real world, libel actions are unbelievably costly. You can go around saying "I'll sue you" to everyone, but you can end up going to court and still losing money if you win because of the costs. Lots of people have been near bankrupted by trying to take out libel actions.

Hmm well wouldn't that be others causing the friction? Billy and Ricky always seemed like brothers and Billy clearly cares about Ricky. Ray Hatton doesn't really know a whole lot about boxing to be kicking Billy out so I can only imagine he wanted to pay someone less for the same job.

Hatton has made Graham rich, but Graham has played a part in making Ricky rich being with him from his amateur days basically working for nothing

It's a shame it has come to this, I imagine BG is financially secure already and this isn't really about the money
